(link only good for like 2 more days or something)
Karl Hyde (of Underworld) and Brian Eno perform live on BBC6 at Maida Vale studios.
They played 4 tracks. I kind of liked one of them. Maybe two? I don't know. It was a little underwhelming and I'm certainly open to the music growing on me. But I think I keep hoping for more Underworld, and it's not. It's just not. And in the words of Sick Boy from Trainspotting, "some of it's not bad, but it's not great either, is it?"

I saw Karl last year when he came to Sydney for the Vivid festival. Any mention he made to Underworld was "That band that shall not be named". I think he is really reaching for something outside of Underworld. He slipped in a couple of Underworld tracks, but it wasn't the same with his new band.

I've never seen them live, and would love to see them. I had to see Karl because of his connection with Underworld, but for me it was a big let down. My wife quite enjoyed it so the night wasn't a waste, but the place was lucky to have had 200 people in it.

We made sure we got there in time to catch their set as Noel Gallagher and someone else had been raving about them. At the time I thought they sounded like Tame Impala, but of course Tame Impala sound incredibly like 'Revolver' era Beatles. So yeah, Beatles makes sense. As would Noel's interest, as he's obsessed with the Beatles.
They were fine live, but unsurprisingly The Primals blew em off the stage. The Primals are one of those bands where, if you've ever thought "hmm they might be good live", you should see them. Really.
Weirdly your Whirly Link to the album is blocked in my country. But THIS one's fine.
Hahaha, the LSD comment is perfect. They do sound a bit like Tame Impala (not a bad thing) but I seem to enjoy Temples a bit more as their sound feels a bit warmer to me.
It's no surprise a seasoned band like Primal Scream blew em out of the water, though. I got a lucky chance to see them in Los Angeles... Jesus... it was over 10 years ago! It was when they were supporting XTRMNTR. It was doubly cool since Mani was playing with them, and I didn't get to see Stone Roses during their heyday nor did I get to see Primal Scream until that point. But geeze. What a celeb hipster scene that was. I bumped into Tom Cruise, saw Billy Idol playing air guitar as he sat intently in the VIP section watching the Primals' every move, and last but not least I stole Rod Stewart's fork as everyone was bailing post-show. LOL. Fun night.

Well 'they' say that EDM is going to be deposed by a resurgence in Deep House in the UK and Europe. Whether that turns out to be the case remains to be seen (and I expect not in the USA), but this is about to be a huge hit I believe.
And while we're on a piano tip, here's another newie with some old school piano flavours.
