Near to speaker but not that close....were you with the two guys who were quite funny whenever Caged Baby were on....hurling abuse at them...

Have to say wasn't the best set I have seen them play but it was good to hear some of the tracks off the new album which I haven't heard live before, especially Surface to Air.

Bloody ell', looks like Glasgow got the worst set list. We didn't get Loops of Fury or Morning Lemon (at least not as remember it, unless I went to the loo when they did these tracks but I don't think so)

I would have loved for them to have ended with the Sunshine Underground like they apparantly did at Newcastle, its one of my fav tracks and TPPR although complete genius is starting to sound a bit tired for me, just heard it so many times live.

There was some girl and her boyfriend beside me.. standing still... and anytime i jumped going crazy i cud feel a nudge or a kick... }:-@

They stayed still the whole night.... then when the interval came, they left..and some really nice girl came up and went crazy :D

That girl kind of spoiled it, other than that it was fuckin class, crowd wern't rowdy at all, i thought so anyway, i didnt get pushed or kicked, apart from that girl beside me..

I was constantly thinkin, why the hell come to a chems concert, stand at the front.. and do nothing.. and KICK..people when they want to jump.. ..fssh..

The Glasgow crowd was alright, there a lot of people getting into it as you would expect. It has to be said I felt a lot less threatened at Fridays gig than I did at the Carling gig in March although the latter was far superior. There were a lot of Glasgow nutters out of their tits at the Carling gig and it seemed quite volitile.

I don't know what size of venue the Belfast gig was in but the Glasgow SECC is pretty massive so it felt a lot less crushed than past Chems gigs I've been to although the volume near the back was terrible. I had a great night though.

Hey the gig in the ulster hall was amazing. I seen them at the point depot and marley park this year but belfast was the best of all. The venue was small and the sound was perfect throughout, pure genius'. Please come back soon! X-D

Hey you guys, keep the comments coming!

The night sounds wicked, and I love it that Loops of Fury was included in this set!! 8)

Foxboy, I'm sorry to hear about those 2 duds who almost spoiled your night. Good thing they left so someone else could enjoy their lucky spot and you were finally free to be your wild Chemical self.

irish fan, props to you for getting the recognition you deserve from Tom and Ed!

And satoshi, it's a small world isn't it? ;)

That's funny!

One thing I love about reading the reviews here, the thing that makes them special, is that the gigs are proof positive that they are designed to be enjoyed in the company of friends. Even better is the random meet-ups or forumite spotting like satoshi standing next to irish fan, and you bumping into chem'd up and irish fan. And Tom and Ed spotting the fans.

It's so brilliant it makes me want to hug everyone!

Belfast Gig

Part One

It really all began when I got into town. I was meeting up with Higgies and Cole, and I had the camera with me. Higgies had give me it earlier that day, because I had to take pictures of Belfast for French coursework. I had a 128mb Chip a 16mb chip and a 64mb chip.

When I got into town, I found out that Higgies wasn?t in yet, and Cole didn?t have a phone, and it was about another 40minutes before I met up with him so I was walking about town and walked past Belfast City Hall, to go up to Ulster Hall 

I was passing and a seen a guy I knew, he said hello how?s it going and all that, I told him that I?m going to see the chems tonight and he was filled with envy :P I told him I was going up to have a look at the Venue.

So when I got there I took some pictures of the Venue and a video of the street. I was basically taking pictures of the whole day, the build up to the chemical brother?s concert 

I was standing thinking of it, then remembered this place had a back door, leading onto another street called Lining St I think. So I thought wtf? Ill just go round and check whats up. So I walked round, hoping I?d see Tom and Ed or something lol.

I came round and there was about 3 Stage Trucks parked out the back, 2 double deckar buses, similar to the ones I seen at the prodigy and a Coach. I was there for about 20minutes, all along looking around watching the roadee?s bring in the gear, thinking that?s tom and ed?s gear? woow!

I was looking at a bus and just standing there, and though ok ill get a video of this, so I take out the digital camera and start walking along and there was loads then came to the door where everyone was lifting stuff in, and heard this scots man shouting to his friend

? This is Chemical Brothers SET!, This is CHEMICAL BROTHERs?PATHMENT!!..?

So im like? holy shit.. ill go over and find out what all this is about and I go over to the guy and say so.. this is the chemical brothers set then? He said yeh, and I told him, Ye him going to the gig tonight! And he said ahh yeh, really? Your just a fan then. I said Hell Yeh! :P

He was talking to his other friend lifting out poles and I said, are they here yet? And he said Yeh theyre here! And I was like?eesh? in that bus over there? And he said now don?t be stupid.. why would they be sitting in a bus, and I said I don?t know, its on isn?t it? And he said well theyre not there.. so I said.. is there any chance that you could bring me to them? And he said You? NO WAY.. hahah ya fuckin dick! I laughed and went ah ok.. 

Then he said, but ya know, ill be able to get them to say something on the microphone to you ya know when your in the crowd? And I said?..Really(not taking any chances). He said.. No ya fucking retard :P and his friend was laughin and as they walked into the door he said, Now I know why they call the irish fucking stupid!

I just muttered, aye fuck you!

Didn?t spoil anything or nothing, still totally psyched, it was time to go round and meet cole at Tesco?s. So Im running round past city hall again, I tell my friend who was there and he was just filled with envy :P

I met up with Cole and we went round to buy some alcohol for the little afterparty me him and Higgins were going to have in my house. Afterwards we went up to the backdoor of ulster hall, and I showed them the stage trucks and told them what had happened when I went up.

Love it, Foxboy! I love the roadie aspect of your review so far, I really dig that aspect of the live shows - it's cool getting to a gig early and watching them hustle and piece together everything like some giant live action game of Tetris.

It's funny the roadies were using you as comic relief! Hope you didn't take anything personally because I'm sure the roadies get asked all the time if they can meet Tom and Ed etc.

I await your next installment with bated breath...

Naw i didnt take it personally.. i know theyre only having a laugh. I've the video of it, youll see it sometime.

It was about 3.15 now; I met Cole and Cahoon at 2.30 approx. We needed a place to keep the drink so we left it at my bothers in botanic. This is about 10-15mins walk from Ulster Hall. We left it in, took 3 stella?s out so we could have a toast before the gig :P, sat down for a bit then left. Me and Cole were hungry so we went to Subway and got a sandwich. We were taking pictures and videos all day and all the time so you guys will probably see them. Higgie?s was in town and he rang me and I told him to meet us a subway. We were trying to kill time so we cud get to the concert faster, but it was going on 5 and it wasn?t another 4hours before chemical brothers hit the stage.

Then higgie?s and tom arrived, we all left for ulster hall, we went out the back of the place and stood and had out toast, we seen staff and stuff boppin about around the vans. It was about 6 O?Clock now, 1 hour before the doors opened, we walked past the doors and hardly anyone was standing there, hadn?t met irish fan yet, but he was standing there. We left Tom and Cahoon round to the bus stop where they both went home, then made our way back round to the venue. Now 6.30. We met up with some friends who higgie?s knew and we found out they won tickets off Cool.FM ( a Belfast radio station ). They said they might be able to meet the brothers, and that they wernt big fans, I told them theyd have to get me something or anything I don?t like a bottle of sweat from tom or ed :P

But in the end they never actually got to meet them, which was a pity. We sat down on ulster hall?s stoop, where Irish_fan was standing right beside me on the next stoop keeping quiet. My t-shirt was visualable. My friend got a txt about some activity out the back, I cant remember what it was but it was exciting so I got up and bolted in one dierection, found out it was in the other dierection and bolted that way.. Bit of a dick like :P

Found out it was nothing special, and went back to our stoop, it was about 15mins b4 the doors opened. A girl came up to us and asked if we had any spare tickets, we said no, and I just said, I would never sell my ticket for anything! And shes like yeh I?d do the same, and then she walked on down and I shouted down, Try Ebay :P and she said, Nah Try yer ma! And everyone laughed. She got in eventually though. Then that?s where irish_fan said, ?Shite T-Shirt Foxboy, Shite..? and I turned round to face him and said, Irish Fan? And he goes yeh.. so we were talking and he told me that the set was going to be changed around and that Come Inside wasn?t gonna be played and that TPPR would.

The doors opened and we were lining up, Irish_fan was in the line with us, just talking about the gig?s he?d been to and showing us his t-shirt :P, then Chem?d_up turns up with anther friend and they were talking away about beastie boys and stuff. Then we got in and Irish_fan bought stickets, I wanted to buy some too, but I was broke and needed to get a private taxi home, but I said fuck that and bought some, but they were big and I wanted to go apeshit so I said ill buy them after just don?t want to hold onto them while I go nuts at the concert, she didn?t argue she understood where I was coming from, she give me the refund. The doors to the actual dancefloor were opened.. I started to kind of jog to the front and a guy said take it easy just walk, so I did. Got Front Row Centre. Right under the Desk. Took some amazing pictures of it in the dark and jus the flash, no on was on it, just the desk 

The dancefloor was filling up, and then Cagedbaby came onstage and we got some pic?s of them, they wernt the best they were ok?ish..
