Yeah, I had so much fun last year. If it weren't for the fact that Mips and Jeanie and Marshy are only going to be in Cali for such a short time, I'd come hang with you for the weekend at Coachella. Seriously, I've got the fever, and the only cure for that fever is more Coachella. Thankfully I'm seeing Franz the week before, but Massive Attack!!!!!!

Finger Eleven - Quicksand

Late-90s Canadian alt-rock. Good stuff. Dark, seductive, hooky. Great tune!

Finally listened to Daft Punk's Human After All album for the first time. I have to say that the boys are still terrific producers, and I think Robot Rock stands up with the best of their work.

Unfortunately, they forgot to write songs! I understand that this may have been a dancefloor-oriented album, but repeating the same riff and same vocodered hook for 4.5 minutes without variation is still a bit annoying. Especially when you can see that with each of these hooks there is a great song waiting to come out.

I wasn't as horrified with the album as I expected I would, and most of these songs would get me out on the floor, shaking it, but you just want more from two guys who obviously have SO much talent in the studio.

Robot Rock is absolutely killer though.

I think I'll listen to Homework a bit later as a bit of a reminder.

HAA has so much potential and great ideas in it, but the album is completly looped to death!!! I would really love to see thomas and guy remix their own album, and actually put some blood sweat and tears into it. Daft Punk is still really really good....they just got really really lazy

I'm not sure they were THAT much lazier than Discovery (which I really like), I just think that the endless loops worked better with disco sounds than rock guitar sounds. Robot Rock works, despite the endless looping, because the production is PERFECT.

Like you say, there is a lot of potential. The Brainwasher, for example, sounds like it's about to burst..... but then just goes nowhere. If they'd busted into a massive breakbeat section a couple minutes in, that would be one of the tracks of the year at the least. I think the songs on here are perfect tools for creative DJs who can work them into diverse sets. I think the 4/4 approach fails on most tracks, as the endless loops need to lead into some breakbeat.

All blaaady fantastic mixes 8) I think the Cassius remix is the first track I heard by the master before I knew much about him a long time ago. That track just has so much energy, and you can't help but move.

Depeche Mode: It's No Good [Speedy J Mix]

When I put this on, I didn't realize just HOW good it would be! Freestyle 'Don't Stop the Rock' makes an appearance, and an excellent mix from the Cure 'Love Song' into Outkast 'Bombs Over Baghdad'. Sweeeeet! I now wish I'd caught Diplo at Coachella last year, and when he came to Winnipeg.
