Well, I can't believe that the creators of Homework are doing this. I don't know if is Pharrell Williams (I hate him) or the basic and cheap sound, but I don't like what i'm hearing... Of curse, the most reasonable thing is wait to hear the full album.

Totally agree.

Well.

I don't buy into Daft Punk's image, marketing, hype, etc. They're overrated and ride way too far on their hype, and I really have not been all that excited about the new album. My point is, I don't mindless buy into the Daft Punk brand name, never have and never will. That being said...

I love the sound of this track. CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!

I'm just fed up with all the buzz around daft punk and their new album. We got billboards in the street and in the underground in Paris, we got videos weekly released about their collaborations. Now I've just read their costumes have been made by Yves Saint Laurent.

This song is definitely not worth such a buzz. This is not how music should be done. This is called marketing.

Is the problem really that the music is being marketed too much? Or is it that you simply don't like the music that's being marketed? Hype can be a whole lot of fun, and completely worth it when the end result lives up to/surpasses the hype - I can cite both Further and Don't Think in that respect.

This music is being marketed in a different way, with TV spots and seemingly random musical popups like this one in Coachella and the Wee Waa album party. Nowadays you just get "hey Will.I.Am and Britney Spears just made some fucking terrible song, we're going to play it on the radio for three years and spam your Spotify. you have no choice but to like it, pay for it, and endorse the lack of artistic expression". The marketing for this album is fun, a little quirky, and most importantly, the music being marketed is not pure crap. I wouldn't mind being bombarded with this, it would be a great change of pace from the terrible music that's whored out beyond belief by every media outlet with any sway in the popular music arena.

Nicely put WN! If it makes some of the sceptical people feel a bit better: Daft Punk function as a gateway drug for Electronic music (refusing to use EDM). The more people start to actually like music instead of accepting what is bombarded at them, the better! right? This extremely catchy stuff will make the people want more and they will hopefully dig into their back catalogue which in their turn will leave them wanting for even more! This will point them into several good directions: Acid house if they are into "homework", Kraftwerk/filterhouse if they like "Discovery", The world of mash-ups will open with "Alive 2007" and the organic, human slightly chaotic awesomeness of their masterpiece "alive 1997" will redirect them to the best electronic live act on the planet: The Chemical Brothers. Let the electronic revival begin!

The music is fine, but it is not top notch either.
Who would care if the song wasn't from daft punk? No one. Sure the main guitar riff is funky but I can name you tons of others songs with better riffs.
A bit of Marketing is fine but they are branding their music like a new pair of shoes. That is just disgusting.

I can't wait for this album. I've been discussing quit a bit about a Daft Punk album to be months ago with a Dutch blogger. Around that time I came back to the "Discovery" album and fell in love with it again.
Random Acces Memories seems to have the same disco feel as Discovery. But RAM feels more organic and is made to be more organic. Maybe album 5 they will remove their masks again.
When One More Time was released it was a big departure from Homework. Get Lucky gives me a similar feeling. And on Discovery there isn't another track that sounds like One More Time. So if that is the same for RAM it's to early to say how it will sound like.

As for the marketing, I think it's pretty cool how suddenly things pop up over the world. I already read that StuBru (a Belgian radio station) has recieved the Get Lucky promo premiering this friday. But the WeeWa listening session and the Cochella clip are really nice surprises as well. The TV ads and billboards, which movie release hasn't done that the last 20 years or so. Why not a new album.

I really like Get Lucky. It will be the early summer hit for those who don't like Wil.I.Am. I really liked the first 2 BEP albums before Fergie joined the group, but all this eurodance tracks are crap. It may be a new sound for America but it sounds very 90s to me.
Pharrel Williams has a bit of the same problem. Everything till his solo album was pure cold. Heck I even like the tracks he produced for Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake. This Daft Punk collaboration gets me excited again cause it doesn't sound electro but more funky/disco.

I don't... Gosh. I don't know if I like this. :/ I don't think it's horrible but it's not something I really see myself listening to. Maybe when I hear the whole thing in context it'll be different. Maybe it'll grow on me. My opinion aside, it's not all bad that Daft Punk are still around, still making music and still exciting their fans.

As for the marketing, I don't know what to think. Admittedly I did lol a little when I heard Yves St. Laurent were doing their costumes!
be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle

I think clever marketing is great, if it is done well it is impressive and may be needed to stand out in today's music industry. But to me this whole new album seems too forced, like they tried too hard, instead of letting the music flow. But what do I know, it may turn out to be a great album.
Further Remixed There's nothing else...

You may have a point here, and I feel the same way to an extent. Daft Punk has done a very good job in controlling their image and keeping themselves underground, but this does feel a little weird.

Still disappointed they're not touring anytime soon. But I guess we'll have to wait another 4 years until Alive 2017.

My God what is this?

This is terrible.

It reminds me of a recent comeback which I thought will be good.

I mean Adam F.

Does anybody remeber what he used to make?

Look what he's become:
