C'mon guys, why no love for 'Come With Us'?
It's their most underrated album, and one of their best (my personal favourite).
Come With Us is in every way better than Surrender, and Hoops is a masterpiece. (many other songs including The Test, Denmark and Star Guitar are on similar level)

I couldn't agree more !
Roses are red
Violets are blue
And I will rape

Come With Us has some standout tracks, but i think it has a lot of short falls, and is their least cohesive album

i think it's a transitional album, they were experimenting with being more melodic, and using new equipment (midi guitar etc)

but i think they got to grips with that stuff a lot better on PTB and WATN

after the trio of their first 3 albums, it was a let down (although i have come like it since)

Come With Us is good when you're in the mood for it. Albums like Surrender, EPD, WATN are good always.

And I completely agree with Ben Glass, he put it perfectly.

Defined a little more formally, "escape velocity" is the initial speed required to go from an initial point in a gravitational potential field to infinity with a residual velocity of zero, with all speeds and velocities measured with respect to the field

I totally agree with that. At least until Further is released.
To be honest, I don't dislike Surrender, but I think it's way overrated. Too pop-oriented, too mainstream, too much hits in it, with only one amazing track (The Sunshine Underground) whereas Come With Us is entirely trippy and psychedelic.

On the other hand, my favorites B-Sides are from Surrender era (Flashback and Enjoyed).

Personally, I love Come With Us.
I mean, Come With US (the track) is excellent, and then IBIA, Star Guitar, Hoops, The Sate We're In, The Test(!), and My Elastic Eye (so weird and dirty!) are also fantastic. I even like Denmark every once in awhile. Really, the only track of which I'm not too fond is Pioneer Skies.

So, for me, CWU is only right under Surrender.
I guess I'll just post my current way of ranking their albums:
Tier 1: DYOH, Surrender, (WATN)
Tier 2: (WATN), CWU, EPD
----
Tier 3: PTB

I'm still not sure where to place WATN, because I really like it. It saddens me that PTB sits at the bottom because I really, really love Believe (likely my favorite song from their last 2-3 albums now), The Boxer, and S2A, but songs like Shake Break Bounce just haven't held up well for me.

Sorry for the long rant with so much "IMO", but I felt I should explain why I think CWU is so great.

I wholeheartedly second this! For starting the evening is this album for me....for chillin in the sun in the morning though, as much as I'll probably take a slaggin for it, it has to be 'Mimosa' by the Fun Lovin' Criminals.

Though I feel a topic coming up about all this summer music, given all the good weather showing it's shiny face all over the place....but I can't be arsed starting/searching for one....

Back on topic, I liked the look of the set-list that was delivered at the Roundhouse and I feel that people should really pay a little more attention to what's being promoted when doing four nights in a row...but then it was a seriously special set of gigs, a one-off weekend of LOUD Chemical bliss... I only wish, like many others here that I could've been there myself....

YES I KNOW!!! hahaha this was started by me and I get it now.
What I did was get an email from See Tickets saying there was a gig and I screamed and booked it. I didn't know bands did 'showcases' lol
I hate that word, it's such a marketing jargon shit word.
I'm in marketting in a sense, I know what it means.
