it's more escapism than a high. if it's party all the time, where's the "party'?

This bit is a paradox to me... Don't get me wrong. I see what you are saying and I agree with so much of what you said... I love a good buzz, I love the aspect of getting high because to do so, you are using that to escape, to feel good be it physically or emotionally or both. People choose different ways to escape and in the end you're just getting a high off the physical feeling or the emotional aspect of escapism. Some drugs lead you on different paths but in the end you end up in the same place, although in varying degrees. High.

That last bit you said (I quoted) up there, I can totally see what you mean. Nothing more to say other than moderation is key - anything in excess an destroy you.

All in all that's a pretty heavy fuckin post all around. I'm sorry that you were surrounded by that and lost people you loved and cared for... it's good that you feel comfortable sharing something that has had an obvious impact on how you feel.

On that note - a good example of long term chemical dependancy is stash's batty ol' grandma. Her medicine cabinet looks like a drug store which is common looking into any elderly person's medicine cabinet I suppose. But anyway. It was shortly after stash's grandpa died and stash, his mother, me and grandma were sitting in the kitchen chatting to pass the time and we started talking about Lebrium (because stash is always snaking a pill or 2 or 4 when he visits). stash's mom says, "Hey, you shouldn't be taking that stuff, you'll get addicted!" And stash's grandma says, "Librium is NOT addictive!! I've been taking it for 40 years and I'm not addicted!!"

After a brief you-can-hear-a-pin-drop pause, we all laughed so hard that even stash's grandmother could see how ludicrous her claim was.

i'd love to be high all the time and escape all the time if i could afford it.

sadly my dad didn't present me a ferrari on my 18th birthday, and i have to earn a good life in a tough place myself, which makes it necessary to work hard in the week and party harder on the weekends. n honestly it's much more fun n feels much more deserved. i might be wrong. but there was a phase where i quit my job and bummed around friends just being high all the time n it was all fun, but then my bank ran dry.

so i try n tell myself a party's a party when it's well deserved and working hard makes it worth the wait. it's not the same as being high all the time.

n yes, most junk over the counter does fry the brain up, i've seen folks lose their heads, be in bad accidents, lose jobs, but still can't give up. not everyone's a smart user. tho i know it's all relative, but i personally like to draw a line. i don't mind getting totally fucked, but not all the time, i basically can't do it so it's more like sour grapes. but physical dependancy on painkillers and valiums just doesn't appeal to me, n honestly i'd rather do a real psychedelic mindbender.

Well , i hear what youre saying.

I would love to have that E rush 24/7 , but because i would love too , i limited myself to 4 times a year. YES 4 times a year !!

That way i feel like i earned it - and it's much more satisfying. It should be a special thing you know what i mean ?!

Eggjacktly.

I don't get the pt of being on pills all the time while u have to pretend to all folks around u who don't approve of it that u'r normal. where's the fun in that? when u'r fucked u should be fucked, n nothin else. damn, all this talk's gettin me wicked ideas, i'm gettin outta here.

Got wrecked yesterday, drinking in the afternoon for my best friend's b-day. Triple Black Russians go down a treat.

Bought some acid today because it came to me rather than me to it, but I'm saving that until Christmas holidays. Still on the no drugs thing.

I found a full pack of Marlboro Lights on the ground to day which, childishly, I took out of curiousity after a bit of discussion with a friend. I spose I'll smoke one. I'm such a badass. Teehee.

Ah dear, FlamingDead tsk tsk tsk, you naughty boy. X-D But how you blush there with the teehee... it's cute in a rebel sort of way.

I'll save the "you shouldn't smoke, take it from Mrs. Chimney aka whirlygirl" because I know you already know.

Yep... And I'm off to go smoke a cig. I can't friggen sleep.

I like the way you just dropped that in there casually

Like you're an acid veteran or something - "yeah man, got some more acid *sigh* Suppose I'll have to take it at some point" X-D

Funny thing is I'd never taken or even seen acid before yesterday! X-D

(But the house party I was at was kinda boring, and my will broke. I took two hits about 90 minutes apart last night. heh. Was nice, pretty mellow and warm feeling and not at all overwhelming (presumably because I spaced them apart). A worthwhile, safe, curiosity-answering experience. Will save the rest for after exams. )

Went to Guns 'n' Roses concert tonight. Wicked arena rock act. Axl hasn't lost a thing. Ferocious!

Had a couple beers and a couple joints before/during the show. VERY cooked. Visual and oral manifestations. This was good stuff I got. G'n'R was the exception to my recent policy.

Now at home, getting ready for sleep. Just toked back another fattie and popped two clonazepam. It's 3 AM, my 9 AM class will not likely be visited.

Rock on Dude!

Weren't you like, oh, 2 years old when they were big back in '87?

Oops. I decided not to set my alarm, as there's no way in hell I'd sleep past noon....

Uh, I just got out of bed and it's 2:33 PM...... D'oh. Missed my 2PM class. Not good, not good. I feel good though.

heh.

Yeah, G'n'R rocked. I always liked them growing up (and yeah, I was like 9 when UYI I&II came out). Great show. Good stuff.

Um, I can't find my little baggie and my rolling papers. They're not hidden away in any of my usual stashes. I fear they may have disappeared only to reappear at a moment my parents come by..... Shit. Not good. I can't fathom where I might have put them.

Could go for a bottle of a nice Spanish rioja. I'm in that content, relaxed mood right now that just cries out for a quality wine and a bit of cheese.

The soothing effects of green tea will have to make do. And I have to study.

Nah, there was only about a half-gram left in there anyways, so I'm not bothered about the loss. Would be a little less good if it turned up somewhere it shouldn't in the house though. I was rolling at the computer here last night, put away the shot glass I was using as an ashtray, and everything. But no little baggie, and that pack of papers is gone.

I was fine and together when I got home last night (got battered before/during the G'n'R show, then straightened myself out), then got more battered when returning home to help me sleep and the rest is a bit of a blur. Ended up in bed, feeling nice and cozy.

Meh, no big loss. No real worries.
