i think im gonna start getting into classical, i think its got some simualrities to dance.
You really should give a listen to some classical music. You are right in that there are similarities - like structure, melody and layers within the music, and once you listen you will be able to easily draw some parallels between that and electronic music. Since you already have an interest, you'll spot it right away.
Baroque era is a good place to start, though technically it was before the classical period. ;) imo the movements within Baroque music and all the textured, intertwining melodies are very akin to the various movements and structures in a lot of electronic music. You can't go wrong with JS Bach who is one of my favorites and pretty much defines the Baroque period. Also check Handel and Pachabel, too.

Beethoven (symphony ****** 9!!!)
Mozart
Bach
Chopin (nocturnes)
Jimi Hendrix
Pink Floyd
Tool (and some of Perfect Circle, though I'm not much for intentionally depressing or negative-attitude music)
Porno for Pyros / Jane's Addiction
Smashing Pumpkins (Melancholie and before)
Whirlygirl's right about the correlation between classical and electronic. Listening to classical music is proven to help you think more clearly, and will help you to appreciate all genres of music.

Yeah, have to admit Nelly Furtado isn't one of my favorite vocalists. She sounds a bit like she's singing through her nose. I can see the appeal though. She's a lot better than some of the other shit out there!
So you saw U2 during the Zoo TV days - that was da shit, some of the best live shows I've seen. They are definitely in their element when they play live. I would have liked to have seen Pop Mart but tickets were so ridiculously overpriced, plus they played at the colisseum in Los Angeles - seen a concert (U2 during Joshua Tree) once and never again. The place is just too damn big. Anyway - hang on to that Vertigo 7". It's amazing how much money some of that ol U2 shit is worth. I have a stockpile of U2 collectibles I saved over the years... some stuff I have I've never seen anywhere else, not even on ebay or eil. I'm hanging onto all of it though, gotta pay for my son's college education somehow!!

Besides dance music, I enjoy classical and some altenative rock. Some of my faves:
Beethoven (symphony ****** 9!!!)
One of the best pieces of music ever composed! It's genius and epic, so much passion. I've always wanted to hear this... I'd like to hear it at the Hollywood Bowl, that would be the ultimate in symphony-going experiences - my folks got to do that ages and ages ago. The Hollywood Bowl (I forget which symphony was playing) had a sunrise performance, with this song as the apex as the sun was coming up. Must've been a cool thing to witness.

The song from the Excalibur soundtrack is taken from a classical piece called 'Carmina Burana', the song they use is called O Fortuna.... there's a really cool old skool techno mix of that by a band called Apothosis... I think that's how it's spelled.
