I didn't feel like explaining the madness the Chems usually made. I just nodded.

Bringing this up again....
I found the second commercial 'Le Nuage' on youtube by fluke I think. I had seen the other one which I thought was alright but I like this one way better on first impression.

Sorry for double post.
I remember the commercial for Air France was released between Surrender and Come With Us, I would say within 1 year after Surrender was released.
There was an other commercial featuring a chemical song broadcast in France : It was an ad for a Ford car with Shake Break Bounce.

Heh, I can sympathize with Ben_j. I didn't hear about them 'til 2001. Of course I was 12! So that cuts me some slack. (I hope.)
That commercial was really pretty cool. The fact that Michel Gondry directed it was cool enough - then layer Asleep From Day with that? Awesome!

Well, I didn't hear 'bout the Chems until 2005. I was 11, and I bought Block Rockin' Beats, Galvanize, Let Forever Be and Got Glint on iTunes. then i eventually got all the albums in late 2006, of course at the time PTB was the latest. I wasn't exactly crazy about them, but eventually I started listening to them more and more often, and then I began to love the Chems, which then led to my joining this forum.

I first heard them (I mean, hearing and be aware that it was them) when I saw Star Guitar on TV. I didn't like it. Then I heard about Singles 93 - 03 on radio, I heard a bit of Music Response and I loved it. I borrowed all the CDs I could find at a "Mediateque" and voila

Well, I first heard the Brothers on music channels like MTV when they play the video of Setting Sun, back in 1997 (I was 14). I bought Dig Your Own Hole a few days later. But, I bought Exit Planet Dust after Surrender. And I went to my first Chemical Brothers concert in July 2007.

My first Chemical contact was when Setting Sun was released too! I was 14 as well, and it was really different from what I was usually listening to at that time, and it led me to listening to The Prodigy and Fatboy Slim. But then I kind of parted ways with them until HBHG was released in 99 (it made me buy the album). But I think I reached fan status when The Test was released in 2002. I remember I kept hearing it at the university's cafeteria, where the TV was set on Mtv all day long — I remember the Test video was heavily played back then.

Aw, I made everyone start remembering when they first heard of the Chems. ^^
And Setting Sun was on MTV?! That's awesome! I remember seeing Star Guitar on MTV, like, once along with some Fatboy Slim's Ya Mama and Weapon of Choice. But, I'm pretty positive that was the tail end of MTV's playing-all-music-videos-no-matter-what-genre-they-were era.

MTV used to have this show called AMP and it was shown at 3am on Monday morning. :P They showed all kinds of great vids, including the Chemical Brothers, Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Fatboy, etc. They even showed footage of the Chems and Fatboy at Red Rocks. It was such a great show, a shame it got cancelled then again who the fuck is up at that ungodly hour between Sunday and Monday?
