Coolness, EIS-T.

I've been using Tag&Rename with success, but I will check this out to compare. Thanks.
Gonna work it out...

This is interesting topic.

Well, for my part, I own only CD-DVDs which are, i'm not embarrassed to say, in complete mess. I've cut that Gordian knot like a true lazy person would - I just rip everything to lossless to PC and use - yeah, i know - Winamp to tag them for me, so it looks like this: Artist [Album year track] - ' song '.
Original CD's i use after ripping in car. Don't like mp3 in car, on my system they sound terrible, and over the years i found that too much mixing makes me just press skip in car alot. So i just listen to albums on the road - did anyone noticed how relaxing it is to drive and listen to Surface to air? Anyway, this helps quite a lot if you rely on PC as a entertainment centre and have 13K+ songs. It ranges from local, classical, pop, electro, world music, more or less every genre you can think of (I have no criteria). Rap and R'n'B just dont work for me, but for a few artist. I still buy CDs in local CD shop, as I have a deal with them - order me that and that and put it aside Posted Image

Physical:

Grouped and organized alphabetically by Artist-Year-Album

Digital

Folder name:

Artist ~ [year] ~ Album Artist ~ [genre optional]

Example:

Chemical Brothers, The ~ [1995] ~ Exit Planet Dust

File name:

Disc#.Track#. Track ~ Artists

Example:

01.01. Leave Home ~ Chemical Brothers, The

Compilations/Scores:

Various Artists ~ [year] ~ CompilationName - Artist/DJ

Example:

Various Artists ~ [2003] ~ DJ-KiCKS - Tiga

Single tracks:

All in one folder named !Singles

File name:

Artist ~ Name ~ Year

All in my Music folder, after years of organizing my music I have found this is the best way and fastest way to find what you want if you have a lot of music.

You want to search all the albums for a year just search; [year]

This way you can also group alphabetically and Windows search already sort it by year if you sort the folders by name.

All my playlist are in a folder named !Playlists so it's easier to find what I want.

I really don't like putting music in a genre specific folder there albums with a lot of genre ranges and having a folder for each letter is redundant.

Useful Software:

Tag & Rename
Foobar
Zune

Pro tip: Don't use iTunes, it sucks.

So yeah this is how I organize it...

That's what's up, MX/. Good stuff, and I might adjust my own to be similar...

In the past I've mentioned my distaste for iTunes. Sure, I keep it on the old laptop and own an iPad for fun, but I never install iTunes on the good PC connected to the music drives.
Gonna work it out...

Manually manage files and folders? Gosh, guys, use iTunes (or any other music library app).

Who said Manually? With Tag&Rename you can make "actions" (aka macros) to rename the files and folders with a click also has auto tagging, the same with foobar.

Zune it's good as a media library manager and it's much faster than iTunes if you have your music correctly tagged and somehow standardized in a way.
