I'm actually quite looking forward to this show, as I'll be seeing a few people I haven't seen in a while. It'll be a spectacle. Although, I really do need to do something to regain my credibility after this week: Tiesto tonight, Justin Timberlake on Saturday....

And I will definetly get a review up once I'm capable of it. Afterparty afterwards at the city's newest club, so I'm hoping they relax their dresscode and let us ravers in in comfy gear.

Er, yeah, it was an interesting night.

It's 9 AM, I just got home, haven't slept yet, coming down off far too many pills....

Stories later. Life, love and tragedy to be detailed.

So, I'm going to try to keep it reasonably concise. Pick up my friend Cathy, she tells me her parents are on her case and asking if she's doing drugs (which she hasn't been for quite a while) and they are VERY overprotective, so she's decided not to take any pills since they're the type to stay up all night quizzing her and threaten drug tests, etc. and she is understandably a bit miffed. I convince her that's not a problem a bottle of rye can't solve, so she starts getting her drunk on. I take the first of my pills and we head in.

Warmup acts were locals and pretty decent. I recognized a few tunes here and there, like a Zabiela track from a year or two back, and got into the mood even before my pills kicked in.

Tiesto came on and his set was actually quite good. I knew very little of the material, since trance isn't my bag, but he worked the crowd really well and had a really good light show (though the laser was in the second room, inexplicably). Was well into having a good time.

Of course, it being Winnipeg, and retards needing to ruin things, someone calls in a bomb threat. The building is evacuated, approx 30 police cruisers surround and inspect, 3,000 people party in the streets while we wait. Eventually we're allowed back in and, to his credit, Tiesto was a really good sport and spun an hour past his scheduled time, playing until 3 AM.

In the interim, things got a bit weird, personally. I've long been interested in Cathy but she told me a while back she isn't interested in me as anything other than a really good friend. We have great chemistry and are always really flirty with each other but that's as far as things have ever gone besides some inappropriate touching while on pills in the past. Recently she began dating a friend of ours who is a really nice guy. However, last night she was all over me for some reason, being cuddly, dancing seductively with me, etc. Eventually we start making out on the dancefloor at her initiative, which was very surreal. On the one hand I felt bad because her boyfriend is a really nice guy and they just started dating. On the other hand, I'm on pills and making out with a stunning girl I really like. So, yeah... anyways... I think it's possibly because I told her I was interested in and was flirting with her gorgeous friend who was also there last night. That and I know she does actually like me but chooses to play hard to get. (Everyone tells me I'm stupid for being hung up on her, so I'm not anymore; as soon as I'm not hung up on her, she's all over me. For the second time in a week. Can someone explain women to me? I'm clearly losing the plot here.)

Eventually I can tell her mood has really dropped (probably felt guilty) and I drive her home before the end of Tiesto's set. I decide to head back and go to the afterparty but when I arrive I find Tiesto is still spinning and I come in just as he mixes in Adagio For Strings, a suitably powerful moment. I think around this time I had just popped pill number three or four (I'd bought four but told myself I was only going to do two. hah.)

His set eventually ends at 3 AM and while I'm walking to the club the afterparty is happening at a few blocks over, I run into the guy who sold me the pills earlier in the day. He's a really nice guy who I've met a couple times through Cathy, so we hang out all night. Over the next couple hours I buy and consume three more pills from him. The afterparty is bumping, a sweaty, tiny dancefloor in the backroom being the main attraction. Good tunes, full-on bosh, and the perfect type of music for the mood of the crowd.

Every person I run into that I know is carrying boatloads of pills and coke. When did everyone start dealing? Undercover cops everywhere in the club, but it's really easy to spot them, of course.

We stay, raving our asses off until they shut down at 7 AM. Stayed until the bitter end. I drive one guy home across the city that I'd just met earlier in the evening and then I drive my dealer friend home. (Drive home soundtracked by 'We Are the Night' much to the large approval of my passengers.) For my troubles he gives me a gelcap of pure MDA (not MDMA), which I pocket quite appreciatively. I get home around 8:30 AM, sneak in while my mom is in the garage, dinner plate pupils still in moderate effect.

I grab a bite to eat then try to sleep, knowing I have to get up for work in about 3 hours. Of course, sleep is impossible. I call work eventually and tell them I can't make it until 2 hours after I'm supposed to start, buying me time to get sleep. Which does NOT happen. I got maybe 45 minutes of tossing and turning sleep before having to head in and train a new staff member. Shift went really well though, it's now 11 PM, I'm not tired in the slightest. Going to take some more 5-HTP to ward off the crash and then go to bed in a bit. Early start at work again tomorrow.

I think I'm going to take the MDA at the Timberlake concert tomorrow. Or at the afterparty. I've never done MDA before so it should be interesting. Hopefully the one cap will be sufficient to get a decent buzz going.

Executive summary: Tiesto surprisingly good and a great sport, make out with stunning girl who knows how to leave my head spinning, afterparty rave till 7 AM, score free MDA, no sleep, work.

Oh, and I could've hooked up with an attractive, slightly crazy, pilled up Brazilian at the Chems NYE 2005 in London but I, unfortunately, remained faithful to my girlfriend at the time. Hindsight is 20/20 and I can see that I'm a bitch. (Mind you, she wanted to leave during the Chems set, which I was not down with. If only she'd asked me after... Chem Bros before ho's, FTW! bwah!)

Anyways, yeah, I got talked into Timberlake by a few sexy girls (Cathy among them) and by a really good review from Pitchfork, of all sources. I'm looking forward to it although it may get a bit weird.

Nah, I'm not expecting a follow-up act any time soon. And I'm not going to be the one pushing the issue. She can be a bit of a headfuck and I need to keep distance to protect myself and because she always comes after me if I play hard to get and always pushes away if I move in. I've got better things to do than chase after unavailable women. And I don't want to fuck her boyfriend over, he's a genuinely nice guy who has had my back on a few occasions. If she decides she wants to be with me more, she can choose me. Which I don't think will happen, at least not now. Meh. I'm cool with that. Although she is drawn to me when I have dinner plate pupils. She has an absolute fascination with them.

Posted the story because it was integral to the night. And because I needed to talk about it to someone. 90% of the people I know are good friends with her boyfriend and I must keep my mouth shut.

(Just remembered, she took pictures of us making out on her camera. Crazy nutter! Asked me if I thought it was obvious it was her I was making out with [she was slightly obscured and out of frame due to angle], because she was going to put it up on Facebook. I said I didn't think that was a bright idea. heh, go figure.)

I'd go see Tiesto again if I was given the chance, but not for the $70 face value price. The $30 I paid made me feel like I got good value (and I could afford to buy more pills after with the savings!).

It depends. Sometimes they're really strong, more often they're just medium strong. This was a case of the latter. And sometimes I just get greedy. :) I never really felt too messed up at all, to be honest. Well, other than that one time when I dropped the next pill before the last pill had kicked in and then they both came in at once.... :)

I've woken up for the next day's work and I still feel like a human being. Bit of heartburn, I think because I lay down right after taking the 5-HTP. And it took almost 2 hours to fall asleep. I'm going to be tired later, I think. 6 hours sleep over two days = tired.
