Oh yeah the lack of soundtrack like whirls said makes the movie even better. It's the panic you can feel the panic.

At one point something happend and i went 'Aaah!' in the cinema hahaha.#

It's not even a SCARY movie , it's just mass panic and hysterica captured really, really well.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this movie.

Oh so you want a proper review eh? Ok

The characters were boring.

Their reactions seemed unrealistic.

They don't seem to show the real horror of what is happening.

It's very slow to start with and there's nothing worth watching for that part.

I had a feeling it would end as it did due to the choppy nature of the film, which was unfortunate. It's a bit LOST, which is aggrevating.

I was just bored out of my mind.

on the plus side, it was a little anti-hollywood movie because the main characters died.

So there we go, that's what I think. Batman wont let me down.

I heard rumors that Batman might not even be released.

You better go see your Doctor and ask to have your ears syringed because you're obviously hearing wrong!

Batman is going to be released as the movie's done. Gilliam's Dr Parnassus on the other hand...

It would probably be best if they didn't release batman, since they'll probably water down the darkness like they did with The Crow when Brandon Lee died.

Now, this isn't a movie, but it's one of the funniest things I've ever seen, anywhere:

i really enjoyed cloverfield - it felt more like one of those simulator rides at disney than an actual flick. it was pretty groundbreaking for mainstream cinema, def the basis on the movement and the thrills.

i mean yeh the acting was suspect, you didnt really care about the characters, but who gives a monkeys when your getting a full on POV of being eaten by a monster??!!??

Jeanie I am so glad you liked Cloverfield! :)

And I really liked that everyone kicked the bucket.

Oooops, that's a major spoiler, isn't it?

Good point mips about the full on POV being eaten by the monster.

Did anyone catch the bit at the very very end, when the film cut to the scene of the couple on the ferris wheel? I didn't - I'd only read about it. But it hints to a sequel.

That said, noooooooooooooooooo I don't want there to be a sequel. Some things are fine as they are and should be left as-is.

We're going to watch Across The Universe tonight. If anyone's seen it, whaddya think and is it cheesy? Does it do justice to the Beatles songs or is it a bastardization of tunes? The film certainly looks like eye candy... *wonders if it might sync up to Surrender*

I... I TRIED to like Cloverfield. I can accept that everyone had to die at the end. (It's not a spoiler, really, it kinda sets that up at the every beginning.) But there was no explanation as to why the Zergling's bites (they look like they're from Starcraft, seriously, go look - they so are. :D) made people explode like they were from Alien. Or where the giant monster was from. That drove me NUTS. Of course, I can be a sci-fi stickler and not enjoy a good monster movie for what it is. I don't want to be scared for no reason - I want to know why this thing is here and why people are dying and exploding! That said, it was really cool cinematography. And I want a sequel. Because, damn, I want to know what happened. Hey, I disagreed with Whirly for once! <3

No doubt there will be a sequel to Cloverfield, but I didn't stay to the end - I couldn't wait to get out of there. Hopefully that will explain what the hell is going on, much like I'm waiting for Lost to explain wtf is going on.

A lot of people have creamed their pants to this film, which is fair enough but I can't see why. I tend to cream my pants other POV films.

I don't understand the need for resolution or explanations.

Any reason they gave us for why it was there or what it was would only have sucked anyway.

No Country for Old Men was an incredible flick, absolutely no resolution or explanation at all.

No Country for Old Men had a resolution. It just wasn't spoon fed.

!!!!!!! SPOILER !!!!!!!!

See, The Coen Brothers were really smart on this one. Throughout the movie they make you think Llewelyn Moss is the Main Character. But, not until late in the the film do you learn he is just another one of Anton Chigurh's prey. Making the "true" main character Anton Chigurh and the resolution (in a very unsexy way) the "bad guy gets his way". Then the explanation (though, very subtle) of the whole film is basically summed up all in the last scene and in the title itself, 'No Country for Old Men'.

At one point, "old men" were looked up to and thought to have the answers for everything, including how to control corruption in society. But these days, things have gotten so fucking complicated, creating unexplainable psychopaths and sociopaths that cant be controlled or explained by anybody, and certainly not for old men. Thus, leaving with a country which used to be run by old men but is not anymore.

At least thats what I got out of it...

In terms of resolution or explanation think of the Zodiac! I recently saw this flick (the one from 2005) at home - awesome! The topic hooked me ever since especially because there wasn't any resolution.

No country was pretty damn good!

You could also compare it to the Devil, God, and a 'lost soul, taking care of himself' but that is just one humble opinion.

just saw "There Will be Blood" Fucking Awesome. based on 'Oil' by Upton Sinclar. A definate must see!

No Country For Old Men is an excellent film indeed.

I understand what you're saying 'stash. I do love to leave the cinema and have a discussion about what I saw, and things I didn't fully understand - the greatest example being The Matrix which was so refreshing to see a film in the cinema where you had to actually think. The problem with Cloverfield is it didn't even give me anything worth thinking about, it just annoyed me because they seemed to be going for that new 'oow it's a mystery' bollocks that's the in thing at the moment.

See? I'm not the only one. Uh, high five, Iggy?

It's not that I dislike the anti-resolution that films seem to be going for these days. It works, in some cases. Cloverfield just did what countless bad monster movies do; not explain anything and have THAT be what tries to scare you. Just makes me pissed off at the script writes, though. =P Not saying it was a bad monster movie either! The FPS-ish, home video camera cinematography was pretty impressive. It's fairly new and they did it well.

I'm done! I need to see more movies.

Yeah, I need to get back to the theatre for this one!

Bosco, I totally got that from No Country... the main character was actually the 'bad guy'

Who wouldn't get that? It was pretty obvious.

I saw Blood Diamond the other day, it's a very powerful film. I enjoyed it.

Oh and I watched Crank today, that film is hilarious! :D
