what the fuck did andy warhol do then with the campbell soup can?

whitenoise is a young lad, he's got some talent and I think it will grow and he'll be getting better and better, also coming up with totally new and own things.

iggy, you're just a miserable cunt, but I mean this in a very nice way.

Could you explain to me the thought behind Warhol's Campbell soup artwork?

I've got nothing against Whitenoise, he seems like a decent fellow. I just wanted to make my point. It certainly is a learning process, I know, and I was just trying to make him aware of the situation rather than let him recieve worthless praise that isn't going to help him in the real world if she decides to take it up as a profession and be taken seriously.

Ha, yes, I am miserable, but can you blame me when I inhabit the same world as these people:

(p.s. I only watched it because I read Dom Joly (Trigger Happy TV) took the piss throughout the show)

OT: peaches geldof is a crack whore.

back: I cannot tell you much about warhol's intentions. I've studied law not art but I've read some books about him and also he was very close to the velvet underground which are one of my favourite bands ever, so... I personally believe the trick with his art was: he took something people just knew from their everyday life (soup cans, dollar bills, famous products, commercials, important people and the banana) and put it in a totally different context. he did much more also but that's nothing to compare to what wn does (like warhol's day-long movies, the screen tests etc.). wn now takes something we know (h.p. horse, girls of chem bros videos, live visuals etc.) and re-arranges them, puts them back together creating some thing NEW and bringing them in a new context. I think that's a fair thing to be done even though it is very easy now with hundreds of computer programmes compared to what warhol did in the 50s/60s.

I see your point iggy and you are right with a couple of things but hey, he's doing it for the fun and not on a commercial level and the results are far better than many things we get to see as bootleg artworks or even proper album artworks of certain bands/singers. let's see what he brings up as artwork for hanna.
love is all.

No, he actually said "good artists copy, great artists steal."

I honestly believe that using somebody elses work in your work means that you have created something that is not original.

What about the Chems sampling a lot of other artists then ?

By the way, Andy Warhol is overrated.

Greetings
So I got the new music ( don't ask me how ) and it is amazing. This seems like a complete Chemical work. I think this has been a fun project for them, TOM and ED got to do all their experiments out under "Hanna".
Some of the tracks that stand out

- The devil is in the beats
- Car Chase (arp worship)

Can't wait for the movie to come out now and see how the songs all fit in with it.The story of Hanna looks pretty ordinary with amazing music, it will be interesting to see nonetheless. Tron was a big disappointment for me minus the grid scene and by the time the last fight scene came on i'd had enough of the damn neon lights and the terrible 3d. After watching Avatar rest of these movies just don't measure up (lol) to its 3d awesomeness.
Australian tour sounds amazingggg too but i'm not going to see them this year...

Escape 700
Quayside Synthesis should be a full song!!
The Devil is the Beats
Car Chase
Hanna Vs Marissa
Escape Wavefold
Container Park

Love all the above a lot, really like this soundtrack! Please put out a cd soon!

Now I know what everyone is talking about. After holding out all week I finally listened to it last night, loud! What an awesome album, every track generates a definite mood, and almost all of them can stand alone. I can't quite remember which is which, until I listen again, but I reckon there is a single or 2 there. Great work, can't wait for the movie now.
Further Remixed There's nothing else...

well I am less into picasso than wilde. and I KNOW it was definitely him to come up with the whole thing first.

also, andy warhol is definitely NOT overrated.

What I said still stands with music. It's hard for a lot of people to have any perspective on this board because i'm surrounded by fanboys but it's true to say that some of their work is not wholly original. That's not to say I don't love and respect their work, I do, I'm just stating the facts. If we are to compare music and art, I have no respect for people who steal others work, but I don't think it's a fair comparison as they're totally different mediums.

hm, if I consider the association's "round and round" and see what tom and ed have made out of it with "hoops", speaking of "stealing" there - I can't see, really cannot.

Of course you can't, you're one of those fanboys I spoke of. I wouldn't like to use the word stealing, they've borrowed elements of a song and placed into their own music and are completely upfront about it (linear notes). There are different levels though, take for instance Daft Punk's Harder Better Stronger Faster which is not original at all, it's more like a remix.

you having 8,653 posts seem to be one of the biggest fanboys here :D

anyway, I don't care if they sample here and there and nick a bit from this or that tune as long as the result is clearly their own work. the way they were using "ohm sweet ohm" for example: having this one as intro for a song and then going on with their own ideas. the world of arts (any kind of arts) would be much emptier if artists would not again and again have built their work on bits and pieces that others had created before.

by the way, yeah, I'm a massive fan of the chemical brothers but still I do not agree in and give praise for everything they do. I am not interested at all in "hanna" even though they made the score. and I honestly don't even think this is the best OST since whatever. and still I am not into EBW10. and some other stuff also. still I love them. point.

But seriously... Yeah I do have a lot of posts but most of them are about tits.

I'm not upset with sampling either, I love RJD2's Dead Ringer which is rich with samples and many other artists I enjoy do the same. We can take this further and talk about the medium of film and remakes but I fear this discussion would never end, and I've got 2D tits to look at.

Nice transition at the end, and proof that the album isn't in chronological order.

BTW my album art should be done soon. It's looking pretty good.
