I'd also like to note that I have fallen in love with the music in this excerpt. Its awesome. The only thing wrong is that the bass drum needs more punch, but thats a quality drawback. And I don't see why M-PEG streams aren't used... they're much better if ya got a decent connection.
He put on a turn-down collar, a black bow, and wore his Sunday tail-coat. As such, he looked spruce, and what his clothes would not do, his instinct for making the most of his good looks would.

Hmm. Really not enough available to form a solid, lasting opinion yet. I can see where that reviewer (I forget which one but we talked about it in another thread) said that it sounded a bit like U2's With Or Without You - the simple bassline is reminiscent of U2 in some ways, but it's not an exact carbon copy by any means. The song so far has a very New Order-ish, Bowie-ish, even Orbital-ish kinda feel (this is just my opinion, I'm not stating it as fact so don't jump on my case if you're ears are hearing differently!) The gist of the sample is that it has the makings of being a very catchy song and given by what I heard, the vocals appear to be the focal point - this is a collaboration, and like with Beth Orton to Richard Ashcroft, the vocals are showcased.
I can't wait to hear this song in it's entirety. I'm grateful for the mp3 sample, but I know there are textures and subtleties I can't hear right now that I'm sure will be a different story as soon as I get the real deal.
For the cynics out there - I have to agree with chemicalreaction when he says we're being too judgemental too early. When I first heard Come With Us, I heard it 3 months beforehand on mp3 first and I wasn't feeling it. When I got the real deal, I finally heard all the nice subtle nuances and textures going on that I didn't hear before - and it made all the difference.

i have listened to 3 minutes of the golden path in good quality (i presume the majority of the radio edit) on the Radio 1 website and I have to say that its good - but not the best thing they have ever done as Tom said and it also doesnt sound very chemical. The first 2 minutes has Wayne Coyne talking about hell and demons etc. before he launches into the "Please forgive me..." chorus and it gets a bit psychedelic and flutey

I'm still in doubt to like or dislike it.
I likeThe Flaming Lips (and the singer off course) when they are the band with guitar normal drums and bass-guitar. I think Kim's watermelon gun is their greatest song.
But his voice combined with the electronics. I don't know.
Perhaps when I here the version on the album I like it a lot.
But for now DOUBT!!!!

I don't agree entirely.
The guy can sing.
But not on this kind of music.
Give him a guitar and he makes great music.
But maybe it isn't all so bad.
Wait till you hear the complete and final version on trhe album.
P.s. Antype where were you at? No messages from you for quite some time. Did you have a bit of a holliday???
