hubie- I would go and see for yourself, its prob the best club for our music in london at the moment, especially with turnmills, the cross and the end closing. The only problem with the place is that there is a mixed crowd and you do get dicks, but the music is awesome! However fridge has reopened .....

i think the main problem wasn't that Fabric oversold ridiculously, just that the acts in the other rooms couldn't compete with the brothers and so the distribution of people wasn't so smooth (room 3 completely emptied at about half 12). i personally had quite a lot of fun being carried around by the crowd, quite surreal to feel like you're at a rock concert in a club. i also didn't really have any problems with other people's attitude, i thought people dealt with what was going on quite well, lots of smiles and laughter (and that guy crowdsurfing at the beginning), still a nice atmosphere even if you didn't have room to dance.

as for the set, thought it was pretty good overall.. koenig cylinders easily the highlight for me. also really liked the raw old school house and hip hop tracks but not keen on the new electro stuff at all.. don't know what they were thinking. what i thought to be the new chems track was also superb.

i personally think people bad mouth fabric's crowd a little more than it deserves but i seem to be in the minority among my friends. there's simply no where else in london that pushes such eclectic, progressive, quality underground music with such a good soundsystem.. turnmills might have had a more chilled vibe but some nights were really quite commercial. as for the gallery.. well, i like the part on fabric's website that says you will never hear hard house or trance at their club.

Gotta agree with 3hree6ix5ive, everyone was trying to get into room 1 to see the Chems. It did thin out later on and the stage wasn't too badly packed but for the beginning of their set the room was rammed.

Like London Dust Explosion said Sunglasses at Night (Popof remix) and the tune that followed were great.

Think we escaped the throng of room 1 with about an hour of the Chems to go and head upto room 3 for the rest of Black Rabbit (had started the night up there).

Cheers
Matty

I don't understand what happened on Friday. I queued from about 6.30pm (myself and my wife were 2nd and 3rd in the queue), and was told that the first 100 people in the queue would get tickets to see the Chems (advance tickets had sold out already so no idea how many of those there were, but those guys were ushered in ahead of us in the queue)...

By the time the doors opened at 9.30pm there was a massive queue, certainly many hundreds. As I said I was right at the front of the queue, so I hurried into room 1, and it was empty. I asked a barmaid how many people they were expecting tonight and she said 3000! Anyway, it got to 11pm, and I wasn't having a good time so I chucked in the towel :( The pills certainly didn't help me.

The question is, if they were expecting 3000, how come everyone was going from room to room, when room 1 should have been exclusive to the 100 people (plus advance sales)? Or do we think they let in over the 100 (from the massive queue I was in)?

I'm not sure whether or not to phone Fabric and question this. I love the Chemical Brothers the same as all of you guys, and this was my first chance to see them - ruined :(

mattman I am sorry to read that your first chance to see the Chems was ruined.

But I'm glad the room thinned out later on so people like matty303 and 3hree6ix5ive could enjoy the set. It's good to know that it was pretty good overall. It makes me excited for next weekend!!

For those that were there and endured til the masses thinned out, do you think the set would have been better if it weren't for the insane throwng of people packed in like sardines at the beginning? I'm not watching the youtube videos... :P How did people on the floor react to the new tunes?

evening all, sorry to hear that some of you did not have a good experience on friday night.its a shame as we really enjoyed playing and had no idea how crammed it was-it didnt look too bad from the booth ,certainly not the insane crush it used to be in room2 when we played in there.we spun 3 or 4 new works in progress and they seemed to go well...no doubt some of you will be treated/subjected to them in coachella next week.............

I'm sure I speak on behalf of MadPooter as well as myself in saying that knowing there are 3-4 works in progress to hear will make the drive through the pits of California a little more magical/whimsical.

Thanks Tom for the response, it's good to hear you both enjoyed it. I think after seeing you 25 times I've got used to the busyness. Sorry to here a few people had a bad time, but it was a lot better than the room 2 crushes of the last few Fabric sets.

The new tunes did sound amazing, the one after Carousel was immense. I recorded it on my phone it sounds like a wall of psychedelic synths :)

*drool* "wall of psychedelic synths"

So for anyone that can identify the new songs, are there any youtube videos up with them yet?
