I am also not a big fan of r nb, the fact that awhite person doesnt like it doesnt maean there are a racist, that is like saying if someone doesnt like for example irish taditional music that theyre anti irish, people have there own tastes in what they listen to and it should be there own choice and they should not be called remarks for this. and I listen all types of music from orbital to david holmes .

Even though I from Ireland doesnt necessarily mean I know every irish person ,the dubliners are alright but there far worse irish acts that have been sucessful here, the majority of irish folk acts are dreadful in my opinion some are good and listenable,

I didn't ment that you personaly knew them.
Ireland is a big country in comparison to Holland.
And I know only a few people here in Holland.
What I ment was if you've ever heard of them.
And you did so than it's ok.
A lot of good music is comming from Ireland in my opnion.
This is offcourse if you like a bit of worldmusic.

I don't care what kind of music it is - if I like it, I like it. If it sounds like crap in my ears, I think it's crap so in the end it doesn't matter what kind of music it is. There's gems and crap to every kind of music out there, so I want to keep an open mind and just accept the music for what it is and know that somehow and somewhere, it's serving a purpose. I like all kinds from classical to electronic to rock to classic rock to world and so on... and the list goes on. I have my job to thank for that. :) If I had to pick which genre I like the best, well - that's just too hard to do.
Someone asked earlier if I like country-pop music. Well, it's not really my thing. I think this particular genre has been plagued by your stereostypical songs about pickup trucks, bbq stained t-shirts, rah-rah Ameri-ca kind of stuff and now that so much country is fused with pop and it's overground and sailing in the mainstream, this particular genre is such a major turnoff for so many people. If we're talking country here, there is a limited amount I actually do enjoy listening to from time to time - and it's mostly Johnny Cash.
Well I better stop or else I'll be going on about this all day.

Enough of the "black" this and the "black" that, people... please? It's one thing to bag on a certain type of music - disliking r&b or rap is one thing, it doesn't make a person racist, but be cool and kind of watch what you say out of respect - I can't imagine the people who brought us all here would be happy with racist comments on their board, even if the comments were just a joke.

i had no idea that 'black music' was a genre either, which explains why i saw a sign in japan that said 'real black music!!' enlightening.

i used to not care for rap, hip-hop, or electronica at all; just jazz and rock. . .then a friend of mine who was into rap and hip-hop said he didnt like rock or jazz at all. when i asked why he didnt like them he listed all these rock and jazz artists that i didnt like either. . .so i told him some rap and hip-hop artists i didnt like. he didnt like them either. turns out we had both thought we knew the genres we liked and didnt like because of what we heard on the radio, which i would never play to turn anyone on to rock or jazz. so if your interested in expanding your musical horizons within a genre you think you may not care for. . just find someone who is very knowledgeable in the genre and tell them (respectfully) what you dont like about it. then ask them if they know of any bands within the genre that land outside your concerns.
oh ya. . .and to put this wagon back on the trail: i prefer everything, but what i love is anything that i cant quite classify, breathes new life into an older genre, or is just plain weird as shit :) .
just a few in no particular order:
-the sea and cake
-the flaming lips
-amon tobin
-phish
-my bloody valentine
-secret chiefs 3
-mr bungle
-tom ze
-ween
btw, anyone have any other electronica artists they are into currently?
