7 The Prodigy - Wind it up

WHAT??!! 8O That's their worst video. I do agree on Smashing Pumpikins. That one is great. Dom & Nic are superdirectors.

1)Street Spirit - Radiohead - Jonathan Glazer

2)Star Guitar - Chemical Brothers -Michel Gondry (I like the "making off" even better)

3)Coffee and TV - Blur - Hammer & Tongs

4)UNKLE- Rabbit in your headlights - Jonathan Glazer

5)No Good (or Firestarter) - Prodigy - Walter Stern

6)Smashing Pumpkins - Ava Adore - Dom & Nic

7)Chosise - Audioslave - Mark Romanek (PLAY LOUD :D )

8)Fell in love with a girl - White Stripes - Michel Gondry

9)Come to daddy - Aphex Twin - Chris Cunningham

10)Ghosts - Michael Jackson - Stan Winston

OK I had to choose a MJ vid and I also love Stan Winstons work so there you have it. Also I had to include Walter Stern because he made the early famous Prodigy videos and the first Chems video. NOTE: those 3 are all black and white, hmmm. Come to Daddy is still the must disturbing video I have ever seen, Chosise just works great with that video. I love the Hammer and Tongs stuff but that little milk carton is just the sweetest. Off course Michel Gondry. But at number 1 Glazer Street Spirit. The songs works so good with the video. Gives me goosebumps every time I see it.

Oh maybe as a bonus I like to include Add N to X - Plug me in video. Don't know the director but it's a good track and a good dildo advertizing vid.

Off the top of my head, no particular order, can't be arsed at the moment to look up directors or YouTube links, making an effort to pick videos not already listed. H

Here goes....

Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight, Tonight

Radiohead - Paranoid Android

Chemical Brothers - Setting Sun

Portishead - All Mine

Tool - Aenima

Nirvana - Heart Shaped Box

Nine Inch Nails - The Perfect Drug

Bjork - Human Behaviour

Arcade Fire - Rebellion: Lies

Bush - Greedy Fly

Wow, I don't like that list at all. All good videos, but seems lacking in inspiration. Too obvious. No "shockers". Ah well.

I think it's the reason he picked it :) Cheap Prodigy videos are so lousy that they are brilliant :D Wind it up and Out of Space were made with nothing, that's what makes them cool

I will post more videos tonight as long as nobody minds they might be a little older like from the 80's or 90's. There are so many great ones and so many cheesy ones worth a mention. Some of them were really iconic, some were laughable. I'm surprised I haven't come up with another list yet. I was practically raised in front of MTV.

Here's some more videos in the whirlygirl hall of fame complete with comments for a brief synopsis. I can't be arsed to supply youtube links, but if you're bored consider it a mission.

Queen and David Bowie - Under Pressure (the best part was when the building fell down)

Art of Noise - Close to the Edit (and it's a great song, too)

Van Halen - Hot For Teacher (every school boy's fantasy)

The Police - Don't Stand So Close (every school girl's fantasy)

David Bowie - China Girl (every man-who-loves-Asian-woman's fantasy)

Divynls - I Touch Myself (so naughty, that's hot)

Madonna - Like A Virgin (Venice + trashy girl in gondola, undertones of bestiality = made my father blush)

Herbie Hancock - Rockit (you are a loser if you have never seen this)

Moby - Body Rock (open casting!)

Talking Heads - And She Was (clever, so clever)

Genesis - Land of Confusion (it's all about the Spitting Image puppets)

Metallica - One (annie get your gun)

Tool - Prison Sex (because claymation rocks and you know it)

Death In Vegas - Aisha (perfect vid for a song you can chase someone down with)

J.Geils Band - Centerfold (na-na-na-na-na-na, you know...)

Sir Mix-A-Lot - I Like Big Butts (and you do too, admit it)

Duran Duran - Girls On Film (the first vid on MTV to get banned to after-hours)

Gary Neuman - Cars (one for mc marsh)

Robert Palmer - Addicted to Love (an icon of a music video, simple yet brilliant and hot)

U2 - Where The Streets Have No Name (some Irish band takin over a shitty part of downtown LA - brilliant)

Men Without Hats - Safety Dance (random midgets make an appearance!)

ZZ Top - Legs (dorky girl gets make over and reigns supreme - the car kicks ass too)

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony - Tha Crossroads (it made me tear up, I was er, having a hard time with post partum, I hope you understand)

Adam Ant - Goody Two Shoes (made me discover I had hormones)

Devo - Whip It (thrilling head gear!!)

Bow Wow Wow - I Want Candy (I wanted to be that girl, her hair was awesome and the drums in this song are amazing)

Madonna - Material Girl (cute and sexy little homage to Marilyn Monroe)

Public Enemy - Night of the Living Baseheads (must see, must hear, will blow your mind)

Go-Go's - Vacation (sickeningly sweet like bubble gum for the eyes)

Fatboy Slim - Gangsta Trippin (explody good times)

Toni Basil - Mickey (you're so fine you blow my mind hey mickey)

Michael Jackson - Bad (you know it)

Weird Al Yankovick - Fat (you know it)

The Buggles - Video Killed The Radio Star (the video that launched MTV)

there really are a great deal of outstanding music videos out there right now, that have never been or never will be played on mtv or vh1. Which im sure was the same case going back for the past 10-15 year.
