I've been searching high and low for this record and I can't find it anywhere (except online.) I even checked a few record shops while I was away.

Just from what I've read here and *if* I remember correctly, Brit Pop & Amyl House was mixed by Tom Rowlands. I am not sure if the music was compiled by him as well.

There was also a mention on here that this record may have something to do with Tom's wife. I don't know if this was her gig, if she compiled the music, or what. Maybe someone here who has this record can check the sleeve to see if there's any info?

I'll try to dig up the archives in search of the original thread...

Actually, it's one of the questions I'd like to ask Ed next time he comes by. I've read that it was mixed by TOM. Not Chems. Other sources say it was mixed by Chems. Sneaker has also mentioned that it's definitely Chems, coz of the FX they usually use.

So...waiting for Ed Simons.

not just fx, but some tracks on there are typically what the chems spin. like Emmanuel Top - Lobotomie, a staple track in a chems set.

i found an interview of the chems in the face magazine back in 1996. it seems to answer this question

Ed: It does upset me when we're associated with that big, thuggy hands-in-the-air male thing. And I don't like being associated with amyl nitrate.

The, ahem, Chemical Brothers are about to find themselves without a choice. "Brit Hop And Amyl House", a compilation album released this month, is the first (and not the last) to gather together the like-minded bust-up breakbeat sounds of Richard Fearless, Emmanuel Top, Justin Robertson and, indeed, The Chemical Brothers. "I think it's the worst title for a record I've ever heard in my life," says Ed. Tom doesn't agree. "Brit Hop And Amyl House" is, after all, released on his girlfriend Vanessa's record label, Concrete, and was mixed (despite insistences that "she's a good mixer, my girlfriend") by him

i got the whole transript of this interview. although it didn't make much sence to me when i read it. i don't know if its been scanned in using OCR or someone typed it in from copying the magaine. or maybe cos i tried to read it when i was stoned. can post if you want.

ha ha!!!! no one is doing it in white, only you!!! when ever you perform a search on the forum, any matching words will be flagged in a different colour to the text. unfortunately the colour is set to white rather than something sensible like red
