Techno-savvy UK pupils have recorded the ultra-high sound - audible only to under-20-year-olds - from the ultrasonic device Mosquito onto their cell phones - and are now receiving calls and text messages in class without teachers having the faintest idea of what is going on.

i do have an amazing electro-magnetic recording of a sunrise though,so freaky, sounds like people talking, birds singing, and all it is is the sound the electro-magnetic pulses of the sun make
No it's not bullshit, it's true. That mp3 is from BBC news, but I read about it in a couple of other place.

Gawd that sound is freakin annoying, that pulsating high frequency pitch kinda hurts actually. Listening to it feels like I might have tinnitus. Or it sounds like when you drive underneath telephone poles/wires, or that high pitch the television makes when you're switching the TV outputs from say, cable to vcr to dvd. Most fucking annoying.
The good news is I guess I'm not as deaf as previously suspected. X-D I might not be able to spot it in a noisy classroom full of kids... but how clever those pesky sprites are. Still, if I were a kid today and wanted a ring tone it wouldn't be the mosquito ring tone - no, my ring tone would be the sound of feet shuffling on a classroom floor, or the sound of a pencil rolling off my desk and hitting the floor.
And this story's all over the net now and 5 minutes ago was on the front page of Yahoo.
