I've seen that many of you are fans or like The Prodigy, so I would also like to know what you think about their last album.
I'm really very disappointed with this new album, their sound is totally different, it has nothing to do with them.
The sound is always a big bass drum and a constant loop, which makes it boring.
You can compare their last single Baby's Got a Temper which was a song with The Prodigy's style, released just some months before the release of this new album.
When I heard this new album I begged and prayed that they weren't going to release such an album and that this was just a joke or something to fool people.
Unfortunately this is the truth, the new album sucks really hard.
I wonder where are both Keith, they don't appear in any song!
Is The Prodigy finally a one man band?
Is Liam Howlett alone?
I'm angry, sad, dissapointed about this new album.
Their new video, Girls, it also stinks, and non of them appear.
Are they dead?
Are the machines already taking over the world?

Almost all the tracks lack progression - e.g. when the tracks start, listeners get prepared for more action...but instead of that, the tracks doesn't go anywhere. It just repeats itself for about 4-5 minutes.
Exactly!
That's something I've noticed and I couldn't have said it better. ;)

I like the album i think its got some cool sounds despite not being as good as there other stuff.
I think people easily state new material from old bands, where as if this was a new band that made AONO then it would be hailed as amazing and everyone would love it, like they have done with Mylo.

When i first heard this album a 2 months ago, i thought thats a shit!!! I don't want to listen to this shit any more. But i gave a chance to this a 2 weeks ago, because i have no any new breakbeat music to listen now, and i WANT to hear a breakbet. So, i put the AONO to the cd player and...WHOOOAAAA!!!This album is now fucken good!!!!!It has MANY MANY of that special sounds, that sounds like i hear that before or something, You know that nostalgic sounds. There are awerywhere on this album!!!I must talk this: Every next album of Prodigy was something new. This is something similar to Chems music. Music for the Jilted Generation was completely different from Experience, and Fat of the Land was very different from Jilted. AONO is something veery new, and fresh (maybe without the Spitfire, that remind me Fat of the Land album). That album is completely weird and strange, but in positive way!!!It has many groovy breakbeats. I must to say that this a like more the AONO that chems PTB. But it's only for that, i love breaks and i missed them!!!!!And now...Liam give them to me. Welcome my lovely groundbreaking beats!!!! :)

I think that it is easy to judge and say that an album sucks or not...
Talking about music and making general judgements has no meaning..
I found AONO very very interesting and I still do.
When I first bought it (in September) I was so stuck with it.
I was listening to it for almost two months...
And nothing else!!!
I think it has got all the prodigy qualities and is contains some songs that I consider among their best ...
It sounds fresh enough... Specially PHOENIX is sooo weird... WHat a choice!!! Love buzz electronic and huge bass lines!!!!.... Its just amazing....

There is lots of new breakbeat around, it's just not very mainstream now I think. If you pick prodigy for breakbeat then you must not have heard the artists from Marine Parade label. If however you are familiar with many breakbeat artists, please tell me some of the best ones. I want to hear nice new breakbeat too! 8)

I've seen that some of you have complained about BGAT, but I like it, and I think that it was the last song with their rock style, and last song where keith sang.
Yes, they have changed from Experience, to MFJG, to FOTL, to AONO, but I think that in their first 3 albums they were going by the same line.
Just as an example, Weather Experience, Skylined, Climbatize, and where is this kind of music in AONO?
The rock tracks are also gone, there is no Their Law nor Serial Thrilla.
I wonder what would happen if they play live, but just AONO's songs, would both Keiths come into stage? :?
Where is the breakbeat?
And nobody has answered my question. X-D
Where are both keiths? None of them appear in AONO.
I have all their albums, almost every single, live concerts, all their music videos, some live videos, remixes from other group's songs.
I'm really sad about all this. :(
Well, at least I got BGATs remixes. :)

Hey Skylined, and newer forum peeps out there interested in reading up on some more thoughts about AONO - You may want to check out this thread:

Just in case anyone's interested in reading my recycled blah-blah-blah's from that thread...
My opinion still stands.

All right, here's my honest assessment/opinion of Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned. I got my copy yesterday and gave it a listen today.
When I heard it a few weeks ago at work, it sounded really kick ass. Actually, a lot of things sound better at work to me, it has to be the high stim environment in which I work - then I get the record home and listen to it on my own time and my mind changes. But now, I don't know... I really don't know if I like this record even enough to let it grow on me. That makes me sad and disappointed. I am so glad I didn't have to spend the money on it. Thank god for promos.
I realized for the first time today, that Spitfire, though I'm sure would make an excellent song for a video game or tune to drive on a deserted road to, is far too long. It never ends. I stand by my previous statements that Spitfire sets the tone of the whole record. It is exhausting to listen to all the way through. Memphis Bells... don't like that broken-toy-piano type sound, it's grating. Girls is a standout track and the song with Juliette Lewis surprised me in a good way considering her efforts with her own band have been nothing more than mediocre.
By the second half of the record approached, I was exhausted. I don't know if this is a good thing - I suppose I am used to being spoiled by artists whose records have peaks and valleys, high points and low points, and allow some breathing room in the mix. Maybe I'm mellowing with age. This record is a migraine inducing head pounder straight through to the end and the screaming really gets on my nerves.
The overly loud repetitiveness and the break downs aren't a whole lot to write home about. There is no depth to the layers within the music and the production, while decent to better than a lot of shit I hear, manages to be bombastic.
I'm sure if I heard this record back when I was listening to nothing but industrial music 9 years ago, it would've been a boot stomper for sure. But maybe I'm just mellowing with age and expect more of artists who take 7 year hiatuses. AONO sounds like it's trying so very hard to be angry, it lacks innovation and soul, and quite frankly it seems as though it's trying to outgun (no pun intended) Fat of the Land... if that can at all be possible. I can't say I've been waiting with bated breath for this record and I'm not a massive fan, but I've enjoyed Prodigy in the past and hoped the long wait would be worth it.
To sum up: I know there's a lot of Prodigy fans here and I don't want to offend anyone with my opinionated ramblings. I know how important and personal music can be. So if I did, I'm sorry.
But to the rest who are curious and unsure of whether or not this would be a good purchase, I highly advise you borrow a copy from a friend or somehow in some way give this a good solid listening before purchasing. At face value, it seems like a dirty slick record that would be good driving music, but I think I'm gonna take this back to work and see if a coworker can get some good use out.
My opinion still stands.
be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle
