Chemical brothers shows for 2010/11 are a 100% good idea.

Of course ! But it's unlike playing Further in its entirety all the tour long.

As long as they've switched over by September, I'm cool. Then again I'd still be cool otherwise, but I'd be extra-cool.
Also, Maboul, it's not like they're just sticking in Further and pressing play. I'd prefer a regular setlist, too, but it's still a Chems show. They're doing it live and "mixing it up".

I know about that, but I don't think every non-fan does.

That doesn't matter, the non-fans will just take a load of pills and end up having a great time anyway! :D

funny how the people saying "playing the roundhouse sets for the rest of the year is a bad idea" are the people who werent at the roundhouse shows.

Defined a little more formally, "escape velocity" is the initial speed required to go from an initial point in a gravitational potential field to infinity with a residual velocity of zero, with all speeds and velocities measured with respect to the field

I couldn't make it to the Roundhouse, but after reading the reviews and seeing the clips on youtube I can't wait to see Further live in its entirety whenever they tour. After having the album on continuously since release, and watching the dvd, it just seems that it'd be the right way to see and hear it.

(but saying that, I'll happily take whatever's going!)

Sadly from my own experience this is not true. Well no sorry it can be true for some crowds but it doesn't matter how many pills people take or alcohol people comsume they still have something to bitch about. To this day I still have to hear about how in 2008 The Chem's didn't play the Salmon Dance. No one cared that they had no visuals planned for it or that it wouldn't work well with the show, they just wanted to hear it. It's frustrating! You try and focus on the positives for the gig but you can't please everyone...

I understand that Maboul and ChemicalMat are strong with their option which is fine so I think we should just let them express them. They are passionate and love the Chemical Brothers and have very high expectations of them, I think we all are. However saying the way they planned the show was easy/lazy isn't fair. As well as saying the whole tour (even though it has just started) is a mistake. We have no idea what's planned for the next gigs and it might all change. We should try to keep this is constructive discussion and not what seems to be an attack on Tom and Ed. Its probably not though and I'll shut the hell up now.
its a little early but thanks anyway

Thank God I'm not the only one!
I was feeling like I'd contracted some virus that'd never leave me again - haven't been able to play any other cd in the last 3 weeks - I keep worrying I'll have a Further burn-out, but then I've never had any Chemical album burn out on me ever, and my admiration for this album just grows everyday - I haven't played any other music at all since Further came in.

Some Further tracks need some major rework if they are to "work out" live. A rework like Hoops had in the CWU tour.

funny how the people saying "playing the roundhouse sets for the rest of the year is a bad idea" are the people who weren't at the roundhouse shows.

I was at one of the roundhouse shows and it was my 9th time seeing the chem.'s but unfortunately I would rate it my least memorable show. Don't get me wrong it was great to hear the new tracks and see the visuals and I absolutely love further, it works really well as a CD & DVD but as a live showcase playing from start to finish it just didn't really do it for me. I completely agree about mixing it up and incorporating it with some of the more classic tracks rather than playing in 2 parts.

I've been fortunate enough to see the Chems live once (London Olympia), but as their August gig in Helsinki, Finland is their first ever in this country, I'm sure that people are expecting to hear more classics than what's in the Roundhouse set list. I know I will enjoy it, but I wouldn't want people to feel disappointed, because I know from various forums that the expectations are HIGH now that they're finally coming here.

It's a bit different thing if you're in the UK where they'll perform whenever they do live shows, it's only reasonable to re-create the set every now and then. But as for countries where they (or any major act) is doing their first live appearance, a "best of" kind of show would naturally get the best reception. Last year the festival opener was Kraftwerk and they did just that. Well, they always do, they don't make new albums all that often. :D

But still, greatly looking forward to August 11!

This is a very valid and inescapable fact.Making your debut in a new country SHOULD be a greatest hits type setlist with nods to the new material.I would liken it to what a festival set should be like. Are the Chems really gonna play the entire Further album from start to finish at festivals they are playing like Exit in Novi Said and the ones in Croatia and Poland?Only a certain portion of those crowds will be there for the Chems specifically so to play all of Further would be counter productive no?Will be interesting to see.

Also there appears to be a bit of Chemical Snobbery creeping on to these pages with respect to having attended or not, the Roundhouse shows.I'm sure we'd ALL liked to have been there but through any range of commitments, restraints, unavailability, that wasnt possible. If people werent there then sure they are not in a position to comment about the actual nights with regard to specifics. But that shouldnt stop people being able to express their opinions about the setlist and structure of the show and how it may or may not or should or shouldnt develop over the weeks and months.I personally wouldnt mind seeing and hearing Further live in its entirety but that may not be to everyone's taste.Anyway I dont think Tom and Ed are going change whatever plan they have already made for the progression of the tour just because someone on here tells them to!I trust that they know what they are doing.

I don't have a chance to travel OS this year, so if by any chance the Chems come to Aus next year, I would love them to continue the Further tour. Why would any fan not want to see this new tour?

We don't say how it was, but how we would like it to be. You may not believe me on that point, but it's easier to be objective if you weren't in the moment. Watching the videos can make you notice some things that you wouldn't have seen if you had been there.
You should read the "Expectations for the tour" thread in the live 2010 section, maybe you'll find it more interesting than this thread.

To all of you, are there any bootleg that you prefer to the other ones ? I'm pretty sure there are bootlegs you like and some you don't. Not regarding the quality, juste regarding the show in itself. I'm pretty sure there are some lives you prefer. Does the fact that you weren't there change your opinion about this ?

That's the reason why I can say that I'd rather have a full show with the new tracks played along the old ones than Further played like on the album and then a part with old stuff.
I have expectations. That's all.
