Wal-Mart on the other hand, I refuse to shop there on principle. They are an evil empire and they treat their employees like complete and utter shit. And it always looks like a bomb went off in there.

Some 'Best Of' album reviews:

Moby

Go: The Very Best of Moby

Moby is truly a vile little man. He looks like a turtle without a shell, he?s offensively vegan and Christian, he teams up with gutter trash like Gwen Stefani and Deborah Harry, his songs are in more commercials than Ronald McDonald, and he splits his time between soulless, unenthusiastic, cripplingly white dance music and ungainly, rock-insulting pastiches of Joy Division and other bands he?ll never, ever be able to touch. So, yeah, here?s an album of stupid shit to buy if you?re hopelessly clueless about music and just want to hear something that?s not going to make any miniscule, rudimentary effort to challenge your mind or stir your soul.

Shameful garbage. This is the kind of shit middle-aged ?spiritual? bookstore owners listen to when they want to get all jazzed up herbal tea and jerk off in a lukewarm bubblebath.

Oasis

Stop The Clocks

Too bad they didn?t stop the clocks back in 1995 when anyone gave a shit. But did you know that people in England still listen to Oasis? Truly a sobering thought. It?s like learning people in Germany still cast posthumous votes for Hitler in every election or something.

Sometimes I like to fantasize about a music video of Jesus Jones singing ?Right Here Right Now? in front of a big TV screen showing footage of bulldozers knocking down the Wonderwall. It makes the tears well up a little.

REM

And I Feel Fine: Best of the I.R.S. Years 1982-1987

People didn?t want to buy their last Greatest Hits thing because it didn?t have ?It's The End Of The World As We Know It? on it, and nobody?s going to buy this one because it doesn?t have ?Everybody Hurts.? REM should take a hint and release a comprehensive collection that has all of their good songs on it. Oh wait, they sell those in spindles of 100 at Staples.

Electronic

Get the Message: The Best of Electronic

Hey, did you guys know that the guitarist from The Smiths and the ?singer? from New Order got together and formed a supergroup in the 90s? Half of you are probably thinking ?if it were any good, I would have heard about it before now,? and the other half of you are thinking ?thanks a lot, Dr. David Thorpe, I had forgotten all about that painful disappointment.? Guess what: you?re both right!

Electronic is kind of like Bruce Willis and Demi Moore?s daughter Rumer: two reasonably attractive people bred and managed to spawn a creature with only the bad features of the two of them. Instead of combining the pop guitar virtuosity of Johnny Marr?s Smiths days with Bernard Sumner?s compellingly abstract New Order lyrics, Electronic mashed together New Order?s chintzy Regret-era dance-rock with the uninspired blandness of Marr?s hired-gun studio guitarist days. This is the sound of two artists meeting up at the absolute bottom of their game, and it crackles with about as much electricity as a bowl of oatmeal.

w00t!

maybe, maybe going to see VNVnation do a DJ set, but chances are my limp-dicked brotherinlaw is gonna run that. The gigs sold out, but I can get me +1 on the guest, but not +2.... oh well, I'll be having a good time in any case.

Nice one bruvva. Took me a second to figure out what you were talking about and then..... OOH! GOOD!

I'm kinda torn about Halloween raving it right now. There's two big parties going on and it looks like the bigger one is pretty trance-heavy and I've got a lot of stuff going on with school and miscellaneous personal issues.

Big bust by Manitoba standards last week though. Forty kilos of coke and 250,000 pills. Street value = $2 to $5 Million. Damn. I should probably make phone calls now and get sorted well ahead of time in case supply is affected.

I just wanted to post about this North Korea thing. I can really see it being this generation's Vietnam, and in the event of actual war, if I could guarentee that I'd serve there, I'd sign up straight away. There is no place in the world for militaristic, pseudo-communist despots, and every one that is removed from power is doing the world a big favour. Personally, I don't care that much about the WMDs they now have, I would just like the oppression of the North Korean population to end. In what is essentially a strong economic country (or could be, it has the potential - just look at the neighbouring states), there is no excuse for people starving to death because the state will not feed them, and there is no excuse for supression of free speech. And whatever country in the world you are in, there is no excuse for torture and execution of the innocent.

Watch your back, Kim Jong Il, the world is coming around to kick your ass.

North Korea is well and truly fucked. They've been militarized for decades. I don't see any western nation really committing itself to digging out all those fortified positions. We'll probably just nuke em a couple times until they surrender.

I'm very much a pacifist when it comes to war although it would be foolish to think that some wars are not truly justified. What is happening in North Korea can be compared to any nation that is currently in the hands of lunatic despots.

I believe all aspects of diplomacy must be exhausted before resorting to such drastic measures.

North Korea's only chance of survival is adopting China's communist/capitalistic economy to improve international relations and national issues which has plagued the country for decades. Diplomacy all the way! Ground troops in N.K. could mean thousands of casualities!

war in north korea would be a lot more entertaining than the war in Iraq... we could have M.A.S.H. 2 on tv.
