So, I will make a prediction:

It will start with the normal epic track except that it will be as epic and overall good as BRB. Following it, a real acidy song with a massive bass breakdown and some sort of backwards/sliced vocals and instrumentals. Then, a pop-ish song, with a massive hook. Then a more vocal track with either "Magic" or an unknown and more trippy... sort of like where do I begig? but not at all. Then, the album version of EBW 8 or some other beat-jamfest. Then, a pop song with a very catchy breakdown. Then, something experimental, I thinking something with uique structure and maybe something like blending a vocal into a sitar and vice-versa. Then, a shorter 2-3 minute song before a big finale, I thinking something that starts out as a slow rock song before some ethnic instrument comes in and then speeds up into orgasmic shake your booty.

}:-) So, what do you think?

Doesn't sound too bad at all. I really want Kevin Shield + Bobby Gillespie though.

I'll take whatever Tom and Ed decide to dish out.

I do wonder if they are planning to work with artists less well known, though. I remember reading a few months before their collaboration with the Flaming Lips they said they wanted to work with lesser known artists on their next album (which was Push The Button).

It seems with the Magic Numbers, Anna Lynne and Kele they were able to spot some diamonds in the rough - and the collabs worked out amazing. I think it's awesome that they've worked with big artists like Bernard Sumner, Richard Ashcroft, Tim Burgess, etc. but I really dig the scouting they've done with lesser known artists. In the end it's exposed me to new artists I might not have heard otherwise.

I remember reading here when Push The Button was released a couple of people were whining about there being too many vocal tracks... so just a general question here: would some of you like a less vocals oriented album or do you prefer their vocal collabs?

Personally, I could go either way, like I said if they want to dish it out I'll take it!

I think it's probably best if they minimize the amount of mid-tempo pop-star collabs, but tunes such as 'Hold Tight London' where the voice is used more as an instrument than a hook are always welcome. Push the Button was an upbeat, poppy album (and I mean that in a very good way!) in a lots of ways, so I wouldn't mind a more underground sound on this one.

And I would like to see one huge collab with some underground heroes (Gillespie and Shields, damnit!!!!), if possible. Get those Pitchforkers salivating, damnit.

In the end, it's all up to the vibe Tom & Ed are feeling, though. They need to trust their instincts rather than listen to critics, fans, etc. They've scarcely let us down yet, even if they haven't always put out what we've expected or asked for.

if you talk about the sample style, means real drumset samples and so on . . . but the rest . . .
E(argasm) = m(usic) x c(hemicals)²

I kinda liked boxer, not so much left right though... well, the lyrics really did paint a picture in my head well. I dunno, I thought the song was just too... rap basically. Believe had good vocals and hold tights were good but a tad too soft too work with all speakers, etc.

I think a little less vocals would help, I'm kinda hoping that theres some pattern where every other album will be more... electronic-y... its hard to explain. I guess "Hard" is probably the best way to explain it...

}:-@ OK, I no longer know what I want, so I stfu now.

I prefer "Livestyle" vocals like in Out of Control, Setting Sun and gyh live. Just a phrase you know "You're the devil in me" is just enough to make a BIG BIG song :D

Shockingly I've yet to hear this tune. I spend oodles on globetrotting to see the Chems and I don't even have their latest b-side.

I've been busy picking up rare-ish singles from the back catalogue instead.

Yes, this b-side I have yet to obtain also. I have almost all their others except for DYOH ones, which I also want depserately. :( Rawr, so hard to get b-sides in the United States of Nowhere.

eBay is your best friend, man! That and Amoeba Records! Or Amoeba Records on eBay!

For tracks, I'm pretty much just missing a number of the remixes they've done for other people, a couple of the promo-only DJ sets (Paris/In Glint/Anti-Nazi) and the vinyl-only b-sides. I'm a big fan of the CD medium because I can play it in the car ... hence no 12" singles. If it's on CD, there's a pretty good chance I have it.

Which reminds me, I'll have to get on some FTP uploading action next week. Spread some Chemical love with some new goodies.

I have yet to find Swiper available in a store here in the States. I've looked in new music stores as well as Amoeba. It's useless ordering from Tower Records as getting an import... you might as well be getting that disc from Uganda because it takes so long and the success rate of actually getting an import in is... Meh. Let's just say entire continents can emerge in the time it takes to order an import.

And I don't do ebay, or buy music online with the exception of a few itunes here and there. That would just be bad for me. If I start collecting on a regular basis I wouldn't be able to stop.

But anyway. If you're looking for Dig Your Own Hole singles, you must come out to California sometime. We'll take a trip up to Amoeba Records. Last month when I was there I saw 22 (yes, I counted) copies of Setting Sun cd singles!
