Probably the most honest review I've read so far on the album...

Having said that, at least I actually know what to expect. (A band based album). Now that I that know that I can not judge it so harshly when I first listen to it. the other reviews go on about travelling into the galaxy with there lives changing whilst listening to it etc, nothing about the actual music...
Come out from the cold and into the setting sun. It's where it all began for me (not in Afrika), like it was out of control. Then after that life was sweet. So dream on into the pioneer skies of the fourteenth century and rise from the sunshine underground.

A good read--there seemed to be some validity to the critique, although it's hard to say not having heard the album.

Still looking forward to it, though. :)

Same, I'm sure I'll have some highlights on the album hopefully that Ill listen to again. It kind of all makes sense now, the whole phoenix collaboration now live on stage. Perhaps that was testing the waters with the new direction.

BTW. I might hold off talking about Daft Punk in the Chemical Bros forum ha. Feels like your cheating on them.

Nah--we talk about other bands in here all the time. Even if the Chems were coming out with a new album next week, we still would talk about other music. It's inevitable. ;-)

I'm hyped up about the new Boards of Canada album much more than the Daft Punk one.
No matter how much i love DP, they are becoming a bit overrated.

I mean. I knew it was a track that had Moroder talking about his life... but, just what.


I have this dreading feeling that this is going to be a really lame album, but if you don't like it, you "didn't get the point of the album" and are an ignorant music listener.

It was decent. And uninteresting. Sounded like familiar ground for Daft Punk, or even some really clever fan made mix, and it's not much better than other music out there. I don't know. It's one third of a much larger song (with apparently loads more features in it) so I guess I'll reserve judgement.

Well, I didn' say that it was very innovative, just that it's not bad. Decent is a good description. I acutally find most of their album songs not outstanding. Alive 2007 shows the real potential of their music, it's so much better than all their studio records.

And that's why i fear the next DP-concert i'm going to (if they come to play here or at least near this city) - i don't know what happens to their shows with all this discofunk-stuff.
