The lack of a US release of Believe has me a little confused here.
I've heard Push The Button is the Chemical Brothers' best selling album in the U.S.. I don't have anything I can quote, nothing official to refer to - it's just what I heard from an EMD rep I sometimes see. I see it in my store as well - sales of Push The Button, though not going as strong as it did when it was first released, are still quite steady considering my store doesn't move a large volume of dance/electronic music.
So that brings up the point - why such a large gap between singles releases in the US? Galvanize came out in January, and The Boxer is set for release 5 months later. This is probably a label issue really, and I really don't know jack about how labels run and why they do the things they do. It seems to me that although the Chemical Brothers keep the Astralwerks label's bead buttered, the label on the whole has shifted it's focus onto bands they think will fare better in the current US market - like Caesars, Athlete, etc.
Galvanize has already fallen off the top slot in the charts, and there hasn't been another single to keep up the pace and keep the momentum going. Believe would've been perfect to keep the interest in Push The Button up, and ultimately help sell more of the album while narrowing the 5 month gap between the Galvanize and the Boxer EP. Push The Button has taken a slip as well, even though it's still hanging in the charts which is good.
Hmm.
