I think the elements of Surrender in Diamond Sky and Sunshine Underground in Studio K are pretty clear, but I have not considered either as remixes. I agree with Consumer on the naming convention.

Hoops and EBW6 seem like a different story, since many of the EBWs are remixes in one way or another. These two in particular stick out since they are so divergent from each other, however, in my opinion, an EBW is its own entity (and not a remix).

i think (chemical formular):

***EBW6 : hoops = studio k : TSU***

...so i think studio k could have been a EBW as well.

and for the dj's: studio k and swiper work very well together and this two tracks fit perfect into EBW6, which is a perfect opener for we are the night...and so on and on

(theory of chemicalness)

OFFTOPIC i know.

Fuck, I forgot the Fight The Drabs ! Thank you Rynostar !

Personaly, I don't consider Studio K or Diamond Sky as remixes as well as I consider EBW's as tracks in themselves. What I consider a remix is something published as "remix", even if it doesn't sound like the original.

EDIT : All Rights REVERSED ! Not reserved ! :D

I've always thought that the b-sides I've heard over the years that have completely, easily recognizable elements from the a-sides were remixes, even though they carried different names. I guess you could say it's subjective and you could argue it either way.

A song which samples another is not always a remix of the original.

Really, what is the difference between sampling and remixing? I mean--bear with me--some artists have stretched these terms so far that both seem to greatly overlap in general definition. It seems that songs are classified based on intention their creators. Hence, it will be impossible to classify the songs in question without knowing the Brothers intention.

I'm with Rynostar en Glako saying Studio K, diamond sky, Snooprah and Enjoyed being remixes (or different versions of) sunshine underground, surrender, harpoons and out of control. Same goes foor EBW 6/Hoops although I think battle weapons have a different purpose than album tracks/b sides.

If you agree with the thoughts of Ryno Glako and myself than the one missing in this list is Delik.

@Profunk: I get with your saying with the line of sampling and remixing getting pretty thin like for example with DJ Shadow. I think sampling can be seen as making music containing elements of (multiple) tracks while remixing could be concidered as making music with an excisting track as a starting point.

Delik is definitely missing from the list.

If I'm not mistaken, Delik was originally released with the title Life Is Sweet (Delik 1). If that is the case, it would fit on this list and support either side of the argument.

I use the word "argument" lightly as this is a pretty interesting discussion. I must admit, I'm not sure of my opinion any more. I think both points of view are valid. In the end it doesn't really matter, but it is interesting to look at something I have been so familiar with for so long and see it in a new convention.

You know us collectors...we like to organize, categorize, and sub-categorize. Don't ask us to change our method of order...

I'm with you Satur8. When the news around the Brothers is scarse all sorts of lists or whatever start popping up for us to categorize, as you call it, certain tracks.

I kinda like this. I think is a fair question, open for discussion, to ask why certain tracks are remixes, like Life is sweet or All rights reversed, while other get different names, like Enjoyed or Studio K. It seems like the tipping point comed around the ending of the Surrender era. But what about the Fight the drabs remix.

Another explanation could be, and I kinda like this one, that remixes are DJ tools, like Alle right reversed (Fight the drabs remix) and Leave home (Terror drums) and the EBW, while the renamed remix like Snooprah or the Diamond sky, are just other interpetations for b-sides.

Another track for the list: Alive Alone (Coconut dub). And that yet unheard Hey boy hey girl remix/dub version or/and Delta FX (which is are probably the same tracks)
