When I was last in Amsterdam, there was a bar there called 'Hill Street Blues' I don't know if it is still there. You could go get a beer or a smoke (Don't know about smoking now) and they had ply-wood boards on the walls and old sofas there and you could draw or scribe on enything you wanted in there. That was a cool place. Also I enjoyed 'The Doors' smoke-bar there too.

Oh christ...bad timing.
You've really done the most wrong and touristy stuff you can do in Amsterdam! But i forgive you, i wasn't online to tell you to avoid those places.
Me as a treu Amsterdam person, well, i really don't like all the touristy places like damrak and rembrandtplein. Amsterdam is the most beautifull city in the world, but the beauty lies off the main streets. Next time you go send me an email, i can't stand that you didn't see the real amsterdam, but as you are a tourist, i forgive you ;-)
