And that was just the warm up djs first session...
I thought the secret machines were ok, a lot of guitar noise coming from two guitars and a synthesizer that didn't make any noise!
Thought it was funny around 10 o clock when the crowd grew impatient, everytime there was a breakdown on one of the DJs tracks you could hear loads of whistling. There was also this dude at the front of the balcony who kept getting up and dancing, and there was girl sat in the row in front of us who kept getting up as well (think she was taking the piss out of him) X-D.
Anyway, the DJ finished his set and on came blue strobe lights criss-crossing the stage accompanied by some weird music which went on for about 5 minutes (does this music always play?), eventually Tom and Ed came on, the crowd went mad and on came Hey boy hey girl. Everybody on the balcony got on their feet and most stayed like that till the end of the show (including me 8) ). Next up was Get yourself high, followed by The big jump which is awesome live. I think the track afterwards was Galvanize which also went down well, next up I think was music:response, followed by Leave home, I'm afraid I can't remember the exact tracklist for the show, can anyone who was there confirm?
The first half was finished off by Temptation / Star guitar, which as we all know is amazing. Tom and Ed then started playing the low Kraftwerk-esque beginning to Surface to air, there were still people talking until the guitars came in (don't they realised what track it was!). A few tracks later The golden path came in, which sounds different live and Believe, which totally convinced me about liking the song. Acid children came in as well, seemed to go down well with the whole crowd! The big build up at the end was cool. Can't remember what the track at the end was, but when the music stopped, everyone stayed ~ we all knew what track they hadn't dropped yet!!
Suddenly the words 'Hold tight Manchester' appeared on the screen and a very different version of HTL came on, it was mainly the bass for the first few minutes but then it erupted into the full article with Anna's voice, aaahhh etc. The whole track lasted about 10 minutes, brilliant version - would love to have it on CD. It then went quiet again and TPPR started and everyone was really up for it, and went the beat dropped it was incredible, right to the very end, especially when it 'breaked' and the drums were dropped back in again.
Great crowd, brilliant night, well worth the wait. My mate who came with me didn't know around half of the tracks and he said at the end it was incredible - as for me I couldn't say anything!
Cheers Tom and Ed!!!

Sounds like you were completely flabbergasted after the show, which is totally understandable. The last time I saw the Chems I was in a sort of haze for e few minutes. You know, the show ends and you want to talk about: "oh, and when they did this... and the lights... and the...then whooooosh, then..." and you can't complete the sentences. X-D I love that feeling! Anyway. It sounds like you had an awesome time, and I'm glad your friend did too. Even better it was worth the wait - patience pays off! This is the stuff that makes reading this forum that much more a pleasure.

It was pritty depressing when they finished for the first time as they actually shut the laptops down so I wasnt expecting an encore but the visual machine thing kept running and then the hold tight london song came up which was unbelievable good[/list]

I don't think 'Hold Tight Indio' will be quite as cool :(
Yes, not nearly as cool as Hold Tight Manchester!!!
For them, it began in Manchester-ter-ter-ter-ter...
Hold Tight Coachella would be a much better choice than Indio. The only reason any sane person would want to go to Indio is to be at Coachella anyway!

positives...great venue.great acoustics in the venue.Great atmosphere...people oh so friendly..!
negatives... not enough staff at the bars..people pushing and shoving to much...especially at the front....i WAS at the FRONT at the begiining but but found out u get a better view from the back..(less pushin and shuvvin)...sound and lights.are also better at the back.. which is where i end-ed up....believe me people u get a better feel of the show from the back....!
also the support was a bit poop from where i was...i was at front....not really a warm - up for the chems.

The Secret Machine were dire, absolutely dreadful. Our party were all shroomin and tbh it was the last thing we needed really...seemed to go on forever. 'Chemicals were fantastic though. Will definitely turn up a couple of hours late next time X-D
you sad bastard. Anyone who takes mushrooms is an arsehole in my eyes. The Secret Machines were probably the best band i've ever seen and i cant understand why they were'nt headlining the gig so they could have done a 2 hour set full of radically different but quality tunes instead of these Carmichael Brothers whoever they are.

It seems the Secret Machines are getting mixed reviews on here. Either people like them or dislike them. I wonder, what was to dislike about their set? Is it the overall music of the Secret Machines that people don't like, or is it that people think the Chems might be better off with a different support act? Or take the Chems out of the equation - are they a decent live band? I have Now Here Is Nowhere and I think it's pretty good, very much a different vein than the Chems so I can see where people would say the Machines would be a strange choice for a Chems opener. Whether or not they play well live is something I haven't seen...
