Ok, Mippio, I heard Homework all over again after ages, just to see why you hardcore fans like to diss Discovery so much.

Well, I got it, it's "hardcore". Hehe.

But I'm a Chems fans first. So Discovery rocks my world way more. It's got way more soul and emotions to it.

Discovery's way more repetitive than Human After All, hehe, i know i'm gonna get raped, but i'm being honest, i just played after ages, I might just go ahead and call Human After All a better album than Homework in a few days, i'll give all of em a fair amount of spins if I get the time, and have the patience.

But Discovery's MY Daft Punk album.

It might be commercial.

It might be sell out, hence.

But it's got soul, and way more emotions, and hooks.

N it don't matter to too many people here, but since I come from neo classical roots, it's got those few moments of neo classical thrown it just to throw me into a frenzy.

I'm not lookin for any fights, just wanna see what people think bout these two albums. Let's have a discussion, and see why we're different people after all, but then we unite some places.

Discovery fan right here.

i like Homework and HAA equally and Discovery comes after that.

I don't want to go into details as to why i like Discovery or why i like HW or HAA as it has been more discussed the chems album here.

Discovery is full of human emotions and HAA is full of Robot emotions (yeah i know i made no sense, i usually don't after a night of clubbing)

"Alive 97" is the best thing they have done....top notch oldschool mashup of tweaking their own tunes.....shows both their awesomness of their own work, as well as Daft's nifty skillz.

but if i had to choose a official LP then it would have to be Homework by far. the best house album out there in my opinion. Yes, it might be a tad bit repetitive at moments, but its a good repetitive like "it doesnt matter" and "dont stop the rock".

just a sidenote, as i play the album : Harder Better Faster Stronger : Enough reason to call this album the most brilliant use of vocoders and panning.

damn, there's not one song on this album that don't make me say ooh fuckin yeaah!

bosco : let's leave the remixes out, this thread's bout h/w n the (very underrated in my opinion and often dissed too much) discovery.

Crescendolls : Let's jump silly shiny happy people! Haha, no wonder they'r not "hardcore". This song says it all. :)

I've been asked to post my thoughts. My thoughts are as follows:

I really enjoy Discovery. To me it is the quintessential Daft Punk album, but that's probably because it's the first one I got into. I enjoy the others, too, and consider myself a DP fan, so I hope they keep at it.

I love Discovery, myself. Fantastic album. Homework is an undisputed classic, but I hardly ever listen to it.

Another Discovery fan here. Homework has some awesome moments on it but some tracks like High Fidelity bore the hell out of me. Yeah Discovery isn't original but for me its a lot of fun and always a good listen.

Homework is better than Push The Button.

Daft Punk should go make some kick ass techno like on their debut EP 'The New Wave'. But I'm probably talking about fairly unknown territory here...

yeah, you're probably right. Question, I guess: Is Exit Planet Dust (or Dig Your Own Hole, take your choice) as ground-breaking as Homework?

Well, yeah, as EPD and especially DYOH started the whole Big Beat hype.

Daft Punk put French House on the map, but it already existed before that, because the likes of Motorbass were already experimenting with this.

Ah, you're quite passionate bout that album, which is lovely.

But I'd never be able to even think of comparing them on a vibe or a musical level. Homework or any other KULT house or whatever album can touch anything the Chems have done. Including Push The Button. Not Homework anyway! ;)

But it's amazing to love u'r music so passionately. Cheers to you slipvin. I just don't know how many of us Chems fans (read worshippers) would second your blanket statement.

Signed!

Daft Punk have made some good tunes but all in all their work often reminds me of unfinished tracks sounding like work in progress, and another thing that bothers me is their loop style. Same thing over and over again (esp. on HAA) . . .
