i think U2 are great when working with Eno creating that ethereal, big sound. In fact, the same can be said about Viva la Vida, whose magic was Eno´s fault I´m pretty sure. But outside of that
I´ve enjoyed a lot all of the writings in this thread. It´s nice to see there are people still passionated about music out there (curiously i was recently revisiting Ummagumma and I like Mattieu '-M-' Chedid a lot too, Bouh!). I wish i had time and writing skills to do something similar, but anyways, i think that the reason of the Chems success is that ,with their music and shows, they can evoke amazing feelings and ideas at the same time they make you move, when an awful lot of the dance artists can only do the latter. It´s that magic (or duende , in spanish slang) that can´t be translated into words.
For me the Chems have opened my eyes and have make me love and explore electronic music (a love that stayed latent many years, but have blossomed -so to speak- lately). And also their music have helped me in harsh times so this is something very special.
(Oh, and off-topic, Smashing Pumpkins are back no? I think I´ve seen ads recently but I can´t remember where)

As far as wishing you had the time, I completely understand that shit. I've been wanting to dump my feelings about the chemical brothers into writing for years. In a moment of free time, while listening to the mini videos released for don't think, where you can hear the first ever crystal clear, live recording... I said fuck it and went for it.
My photojournalism degree had way more writing focus than I ever would have wanted at the time, but thankfully, as a grown ass man, I've been trained how to write so it flowed seemlessly from this golf ball sized brain inside this dome of mine.
The Brothers deserve their crowns from fans like us.... They've changed our lives for the better. And I don't know any possible way that they could change people's lives for the worse. Unless the trance they put you in took place while you were operating heavy machinery or an automobile, but then I'm putting that one on the operator's failure to focus!
The smashing pumpkins in the Gish to Mellon Collie era, did some incredible stuff. Siamese Dream is on my top five all time. Up there with Surrender and We Are the Night, Dark Side of the Moon, When it Falls by Zero 7, and OK Computer by Radiohead (It's six, but the Chemical Brothers albums are a packaged deal. Take it or leave it. It's my final offer).
Thanks for your input man. I love this community here. It's so nice to get the conversation going with like minded individuals.
