FYI - I'm more than likely to come down. I'll have to see how things pan out.

depending on availability and the amount of people to split the cost, I would go for a hotel reservations for the weekend. Otherwise I'm camping with my buddy from Texas. I'm sure my friend would be cool with it as long as it doesn't cost him more then on-site camping.

We are definitely up for a hotel! Let's do it! It can be the cheap-o Motel 6. I don't care. I don't need fancy and I promise I won't snore too loudly. As long as there's a/c and a hot shower.

I am a little nervous about availability. I haven't even started calling around yet (Jim was going to do that tomorrow). Hotels/Motels within a 30 mile radius are usually booked to the gills by this time going by previous years.

Ryno - just checking out some flights from Edmunton to LAX arriving the 16th and leaving on the 21st. Taxes included I saw some that were $318 on flightnetwork.com and that had 1 stopover. Travelocity.com looks all right and seems to have quite a few flights available in the low end range $300 range ($328). But $300+ is a hefty chunk of change for sure. Prices will probably fluctuate - the airlines are weird like that.

Don't bother with Expedia. I didn't see anything there under $400.00

and for what its worth, me and my buddy are flying into San Diego and renting a car on the 16th around 2-3pmish. Just to give you a variety of airports to look into.

Hmmm... yes, flying into SD might be cheaper. There's also an airport in Palm Springs but god knows how much it would cost to fly into there since it's a small airport.

VRBO (Vaction Rental By Owner) has some better deals on lodging per night. However, like Hotels, availability right now is scarce.

found one in Palm Desert that sleeps 8-10 with jacuzzi for 245 a night. However, thursday and friday(16th and 17th) are booked.

link: http://www.vrbo.com/130584#features

ill add more if i can find them

Edit:

another 8-10 for 350 a night, but we have to call for availability

http://www.vrbo.com/98210#rates

6-10, 300 a night, palm springs, available all 4 nights

If people could help me find a cheap flight too....

I'm unemployed and have very little to my name, and i'm already dishing out a lot to go see the prodigy. But you never know, I might show up at the last second. I just wish it was later on, like in june, then I totally could make it.

Also, whats so special about The Orb? I can't get into them, they don't sound very interesting.

whirly, thanks for the heads up....I might actually be able to do that.....I have just over 300 saved up right now. Canadian that is.

The wheels of planning are now in motion....even if it is just for the saturday show.

The only thing that may be a problem is that I may have to be back in Edmonton for the monday to start a new position.

Bosco, I may take you up on the saturday show ticket idea. also would be willing to pitch in on VRBO idea....shower is always a nice thing.

*Edit* Checked the flights and it would cost me 430 return with tax.....looking reasonable

Hopefully I can plan this trip today. Very amped that most of you are coming out for the support.

Looking forward to hearing some good ol' EBW's!

OK! So who do we have that's going so far?

Yay Ryno!!!

prochem - whereabouts are you located again? I'll see if I can find some price ranges for flights when I get home from work this evening.

Things are looking more positive for 3 days on the whirly front. Just have to coordinate the Connor logistics since I really do not think he'd enjoy a 3 day festival. At least not til he's a teenager. ;) stash's mom and step dad want to go but on the Friday because my mother-in-law is in love with Paul McCartney. If they go then Connor will be there on Friday since they are the designated sitters. It might be a family affair, y'all!

The Vacation Rentals By Owner sounds pretty sweet.

I'm in Toronto.

You guys need to tell me how much this will prob cost including ticket, accommodation, anything else. My guess was something like $700.

Also, that last one posted by Bosco looks amazing!

OK- Mathematics was never my forte but I'm sure between the bunch of us we can round up some figures (and fingers and toes). ;)

$700 is a hefty wad of cash... hopefully we can bring that down a bit.

VRBO is looking better and better because of the kitchen. There's a kitchen which means we can cook breakfast (I'll make pancakes!) Breakfast is a huge deal to me. Considering the cost of food at the festival, cooking 1 meal'at home' will save on cash. I'm down for pinching as many pennies as humanly possible because this little excursion doesn't come cheap.
