It won't make the blindest bit of difference. These things are done by automated software and it's a problem for forums everywhere. And even if it was done manually, spammers are cunts who would take no notice anyway.



The admin needs to update to the latest version of phpbb and needs to add a few scripts that prevent the spamming.

Obviously the Chems are massively popular but the spamming programs neither know nor care about that, they just see a board that isn't maintained properly and it's like Christmas has come early. You're just as likely to see such spam on a trainspotters' forum if it hasn't been maintained.



The spammers do it to boost their clients' Google rankings. More links = higher Google rankings = money for spammers.

Don't even bother trying to contact the admin, it's completely fucking useless. I've tried to no avail. It pisses me off, really. Admin = A.W.O.L. We are on our own and have been for a very, very very long time. It would not surprise me if the admin has been gone since anType was first handed the keys to the surface2air account.



I am sorry there is spam but I do what I can to rid this board of it. I am here a lot but spam comes all day every day. If there is spam, hang tight and it will be gone as soon as possible.



The best thing everyone can do is not post in the spam threads. Your posts will just get deleted anyway.

I see the admin hasn't made a post since Dec 2004; they seem to have vanished just before PTB was released. They must have left or been promoted or carefactor=0 or had too much Xmas cheer that year, if you know what I mean... :nudge: :nudge: ;-) ;-) ...and all that. Or maybe they'll visit more once Chemical6 gets closer to release. :-D

Is the board run by the record company? I guess it's not someone directly appointed by Tom and Ed.

I would imagine the board is run by the industry considering this is the official messageboard. I know anType was contacted by the admin when the surface2air account was created. And a few months ago anType tried contacting the admin again to see if it was all right if he could give me access to the mod account. That was when we had a rash of alt nickers on here spamming the place up, along with the Russian porn bots and pharma bots. He never heard back from the admin so anType just gave me the password. I think the reason why anType did that was because he's moved on to other things and no longer has the time to dedicate to this forum.

It's very simple. After you're done reading what you wanted to read , you click " mark all topics for this forum read " and voila! No more annoying orange new post icon and the spam will go down in forum history.

And people just dont reply to those fucking spams. I STILL see people reacting to it. Noooooooooooooo!

Yeah, you better watch out or you may find yourself admitting to doing things you wouldn't necessarily be caught dead doing. ;) Nah, never any need for you to worry, just carry on as normal!! Changing people's posts is not something I normally do -my style is to delete and watch them come back and wonder what happened to their posts - it's like the person never existed. Poof. Gone.



But I will say Ben_j, Dave2001 got exactly what he deserved. I am not sorry one bit. He's been back all right, but I've just deleted his posts. I've deleted a lot of his posts, they were too vile to even fuck with so... poof. Gone. I will delete everything he ever posts again ... if Dave's stupid enough to come back. If the admin ever replies, if I have my way Dave will never bother us again.
