Basslines that have a melody, basslines that have a groove and are a focal point of a song. That must be more what you're looking for, no iggy?

Go for the funk and soul, boy. I'm telling you!!

Spot on Whirly, and yes, funk and soul is where great basslines lie.

I'd never heard Tax Man by the Beatles before so I downloaded it, sounds like the Let Forever Be bassline!

Chikinki Like It Or Leave It (Tom Neville Remix) mmm nice.

Tipper Tug Of War anyone?? and how about Buckfunk 3000 High Volume, not necesserily a great bassline but about as much bass at your speakers can take.

But it doesn't matter is one note, and under the influence is only 2. Which any body could do. It's just the timbre, and the way they fit in the mix and the song that make them stand out. But it's not a bassline, it's got no funk.

Seriously, check out "Underworld - Jumbo", and you'll get the picture.

er, no.
He put on a turn-down collar, a black bow, and wore his Sunday tail-coat. As such, he looked spruce, and what his clothes would not do, his instinct for making the most of his good looks would.

Definitely an instantly recognizable bassline! Not quite the funky groove iggy is looking for, but it definitely carries the song.

The Golden Path is reminiscent of this bassline - at first when I heard a sample cut of the song on this site, I couldn't hear what other people were getting at when they said the Golden Path sounded similar to With Or Without You. When I was able to give the song a full listen, I could hear the influence.

ah arguements, it was why I was born, I love them, I even create them just to make me happy.

Hal berry, I see what you are saying, but you wont listen, i'm looking for tha funky shit. Under the influence goes right through you and that bass drop is fantastic, but i'm thinking about those blokes with bass guitars with that soul, the funk within them.

Don't be such a prick. Of course the bass from "under the influence" is quality, but it's about as funky as doing your tax return. And we're looking for funky basslines. Not just fat bass.
