i was worried it would be too retro, but they really pulled it off
the whole Friday gig was broadcast on BBC, and is probably still on their iplayer page, but found this link too

the box set looks cool, but it's a pity there's nothing new in the bonus material. Would have been nice to have more demo's and unremixed versions

what do you mean exactly?
Primal Scream have persevered over the years, and each album sounds totally different, a mark of which is that their OTHER best album is XTRMNTR recorded 10 years later and bearing little or no resemblance to Screamadelica
only now, on the anniversary of Screamadelica are they doing this tour, playing songs live that have never been played before, and getting more recognition than ever before
this is the first time they've even touched on being retrospective (well.. of their own stuff anyway )
also if you listen to the gig you'll see the stuff is given a bit of a rework,

I saw Primal Scream once, on their XTRMNTR tour when they stopped in Los Angeles. They hadn't been to the states for a gig in years and years, so seeing them at a rather small venue in the city was special... Screamadelica and XTRMNTR are like night and day. They played 1 song off Screamadelica (Higher Than The Sun) when I saw them - and even then it felt different, since it was played in an XTRMNTR setting.
Screamadelica is a defining moment in British music history, which I think is awesome. The songs remain the same but the years have crept up on us all unfortunately, here we are 2 decades later... Yikes! I don't think the retrospective rework or playing Screamadelica live after years of the songs being shelved is necessarily easy. But I guess I'll reserve final judgment until I get home from work and hear what I downloaded this morning!
