Support them? I seem to recall a significant number of board members at Coachella last weekend..... and a significant number going to see them at Brixton and Manchester, and in Mexico City this week...... and buying the singles to help PTB, Galvanize, and Believe chart as high as possible. Some are near-maniacs with their collecting and information-gathering.

As for accepting change, maybe take a look back to the negative response Equinoxe got for slating PTB when it was first released. The overwhelming majority of board members told him to move on and deal with the fact that we didn't get DYOH: IV --> Revenge of the Breakbeats (and, to be fair, he's become a decent board member, too!).

Discussions about Tom or Ed's hair, t-shirts, and general cut-of-their-gib are simply ways we nonsensically pass the time in between official releases of Chemical madness or going to live gigs.

The fact remains that a great deal of the discussion on this board is only peripherally related to Tom & Ed at all and we really do hang out on the board mostly for the friends we've made and the great conversation that exists almost every day. Who else listens to what Iggy's eaten for breakfast? Or what free internet games 'stash plays while bored at work? Or how crappy the weather is in my miserable little city? Look at the support Jeanie received when her computer got wiped. Now THAT's friendship and community!

Surrender! Oh what a right you have to criticize us with your mighty 18 posts! All members of the forum bow down to you! Our mod is now your bitch! Eliminate all members who actually have bonded here! Destroy any thread regarding anything fun, interesting, or off-topic that happens to be unrelated to the chems! We seek repentance! For we have been impure in our chemical worship by (gasp) enjoying our visits to this forum and desacrating it with unchem-related conversation! How sick we are to use it to do such things as make friends, converse, or (shudder) seek friendship!

(Edit button wishing moment 5473) damn, i didnt catch my redundancy, in your minds replace "make friends" in the last sentence with something else fairly common and fun that come to this forum to do.

Surrender, I don't want to jump down your throat here. But I do think if you want to know what we really think about the Chemical Brothers then you need to do some reading.

I'm just kind of taken aback by what you said, is all. It's like you just jumped in here and started painting us with the same brush... in broad strokes. It's just not fair.

Most of us like the way the Chems have progressed, and there are a few who like things the way they were. It's all good for discussion. In all, we're fans and we're on a level playing field as far as I'm concerned. One fan is not better than the other - we're all the same in at least one way and we're all here for one reason and that's the same reason you are. The Chemical Brothers.

It would be nice if you could join in on some discussion rather than come here and start slating this community that's taken almost 4 years to build. I'd like to think we're very welcoming people because we all have a common bond - we like messageboard newcomers, we like old fans, we like new fans, and we like people with opinions and differing opinions (even if it sometimes gets a bit flaming hot in here.) That's what makes this place what it is.

And that's why Nerdcore started this thread. :)

The thing is, I didnt pop out of anywhere... Ive been watching this board for a long time as well. And Flamingdead, as I said, Im sure theres some friendly get to know your dudes forum out there elsewhere. Sure get a good kick out of a member here or there, but can your 'likes long walks on the beach' seeking friendship stuff. But 80% of what I read is complaining about the chems and their countless ways on why they cant please certain members. And whirly for the most part these arent opinions gthey are whines, and thats what bugs me. Im as big a chem fan as the next cat, but Ive learned to mold with em. I dont ever let them exceed my expectations, cause they ARE human. I dont ever expect a Dig Your own hole Darstar, and there shouldnt be. The Chems are epic, and as is each album. Whats the feeling if each track and album is like the rest. No music Id want to listen to... I tell ya that.

Well i disagree big time with you surrender but everything already has been said i'm not gonna say it again.

We love Tom and Ed , and as Ed reads this board , they know.

I am so addicted to this board , cause this people are the only people that TRULY understand my love for their music. They are the only ones that understand when i say " Surface to Air got me trough a bad time in my life" or whatever , they are the only ones that don't think i'm lunatic when i cry during a Chems gig , and to me , that is priceless. Thats why i like to come here so much. One big Chemical Family , and Tom and Ed know i think.

Peace to ya'll.

Well what a nice thread this started out as, i started reading the messages and i couldnt wait to post my own reply about how glad i am that you guys accepted me and made me feel welcome when i first joined, which wasnt all that long ago, but then it all turned a bit sour when Surrender turned up. Man you are fucking tosser X-D How can you say that we bitch and moan about what the chems make and how we want it differently, if that was true and we didnt like what they were doing WHY THE FUCK WOULD WE SPEND OUR TIME POSTING ON THIS BOARD??? and who the fuck are you to come on here and start slating the culture of the forum??? You are a rude ignorant pretentious cunt. We are all fans of the same music and so we all can relate to 1 another, so we have something in common so we are bound to become friendly, it'd be a bit odd if we werent all friends, i mean y the fuk wud u come online just to start an arguement with people that shud be your allies in musical taste???

MAYBE YOU CAN ANSWER THAT

You know, I find it kinda funny, this whole thing with Surrender coming on here and commenting about opinions and off topic banter.

We had this problem ad nauseum with the old Chems mailing list. It was really like no other mailing list I've ever heard of. There was lots of off topic banter and people who'd been there since the very beginning, so a great deal of the time we'd be chatting up and a lot of us became really good friends. Sure, I came to talk about the Chems and I ended up with a lot more because of them - meeting great people, going to gigs with them, and one of my best friends who I met on that list is planning on coming out to California for a visit sometimes soon. Anyway, on the list we'd be moving right along, minding our own business (it was kind of a struggle dealing with 80+ mails in the inbox each day) dodging flames - and someone would show up and start whining "I thought this was a Chemical Brothers mailing list, why are you talking about other shit? How dare you become friends, you should only talk, shit, eat, breathe, sleep, excrete all things Tom and Ed and the Chemical Brothers!!!"

And that crying and complaining would be followed by a "how the fuck do I "unscribe" from this list?" X-D

They'd either be laughed off, flamed by Frans (he is a legend!!) or eventually gave in to the whole "if you can't beat em, join em"

This whole situation right here right now, is like a flashback to the old Chems mailing list!

Hahahha that sounds funny X-D

Well u know for everybody the use of a forum is personal. I mean in the first place i came here to get some answer to chemical questions i had and to talk about the chems , but soon i found out that there are some pretty cool people on this board...and offcourse you can talk 24/7 about the chems. That would be...hmz. Not healthy.

Yeah, there are some cool people on this board. I know I'm a dork but I'm proud of it - it's nice to see people understand where I'm coming from.

I know it sounds cheesy, but the internet has revolutionized the way I experience the live gigs. It's the Chems gigs that really endeared me to a whole n'other aspect of the music when I was first starting to really get into the Brothers. If it weren't for the fans, I would've still enjoyed my time at the concerts but it really becomes such a special, unforgettable moment when you experience that with friends who are into it as much as you are. What I like is after all that, when you feel energized and still riding that buzz from the gig, you can come here and talk about it, share those experiences and people understand. It's a good feeling!
