Blazin' Squad have been selected to write and performs England's official song for the Euro 2004 football tournament, according to reports in today's 'Sun' newspaper.
The ten-piece garage/hip hop crew - whose members include Freek, Melo-D, Reepa, Spike-E and Krazy - will follow in the footsteps of New Order, Echo & The Bunnymen's Ian McCulloch and Ant & Dec.
The newspaper describe the FA's decision to allow the "ten 'bad ass' lads from middle-class suburban North London" to represent 'our boys' as "an own goal".
But the decision was apparently confirmed by an insider at the FA's London headquarters in Soho Square.
He said: ?The decision was a long and hard one and the FA think that the band has broad enough appeal to make this footie song one of the most successful ever.
?The band are obviously very excited and realise this will open up new markets for them.
?They are writing with producers at the moment to try and find something that is just right to spur the team on to success this summer.?
What! You bastards!

i used to really like it when it was all the rage for the crowd to go 'wooooooooooooooooobullshit ahhh'!! when the goalie took the goal kicks. those were the days - bovril and meat pie at half time followed by a good kicking from the opposing fans after t'match followed by a truncheon round the head from 'old bill'.

Oh my God!!
The England football song for Euro 2004 has been revealed as a remix of 90s hit All Together Now by The Farm.
The song was first released in 1990 and has been given a new sound by Radio 1's DJ Spoony and also features singing from St Francis Xavier Boys Choir.
DJ Spoony said: "The song is a classic and I'm a massive England fan, so when The FA asked me to get involved, I couldn't believe my luck." Alltogethernow 2004 will be released on 31 May, the FA said.
Will the new tune get the fans singing?
The song was written about a very famous football match played between British and German soldiers during the First World War.
On Christmas Day 1914 soldiers from both sides stopped fighting to play a game of football in no-man's land.
There are likely to be lots of other footie songs released to cash in on England's performances in the European Championship in Portugal.
England's first game at Euro 2004 will be against France on June 13th, in Lisbon, Portugal.
i believe we are gonna do badly in the footie this year!! we need a good song behind us if we are gonna get anywhere, italy 90 we had new order's world in motion. even euro 96 skinner and baddiel got the whole country singing and lifted the country and the football to dizzy heights. but the farms 'all together now' that just ain't gonna cut the mustard!! england will go crashing out in the first round.

but the farms 'all together now' ...
My goodness, there's a blast from the past - they slipped into obscurity about 3 minutes after so. California alternative radio played Groovy Train for the first time... I actually just picked up Spartacus on disc about a month ago (still replacing those old cassettes of mine.) It was on clearance for a buck, so what the hey.
I guess it's cool they want to pick a way-back track that's been revamped and stuff, the sentiment is nice especially in the political climate we're in but you'd think since Engand is where the music is a more recent tune could've been picked to get the blood pumping. ;)
be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle

good grief, altogether now???!!???
who chooses this shit - great tune of the time, but this is just not cool.
apparently spoony's re-edited it a bit, so we can expect a UK garage version of it. great. what a soundtrack for people to smash pint glasses round each others face to.
AND fucking EVERTON used it as their FA Cup final song back in the eighties - eurgh - this just gets worse....
bring back 3 lions!!!

Three Lions was best. I remember Euro 96' when the English fans and opposing teams fans sang it together.
I always remember singing ''Stand up if you hate Man U'' at Elland Rd (Leeds United). Sometimes if they played Newcastle or some other team there would be a whole stadium singing it X-D.
And yes, sneaker they have been relegated.
