^ That's quite a role reversal, Ben - it's usually the girls that are picking up after the boys whether they want to or not!

The first year stash and I were married, we had 8 roommates (we lived very close to the beach, so everyone wanted to live with us) Some horrible decisions were made, that's for sure. As a woman it pains me to say this but... living with other women is quite horrible. First they start borrowing articles of clothing here and there, then the make-up, then they start getting hypercritical of the way you clean, then finally when you call them on their moaning and bitching they pull out the "I'm on my period" card. Next thing you know, life gets very catty and gossipy. Maybe it's just how it is when a bunch of women dwell in close living quarters, but most girls I've known who've had girls as roommates all have the same story - friendships in tatters at the end. I don't know how you men put up with us womenfolk. :P

Meh. Roommates.

yeah, the one girl i am living with is the messiest. think it's more about how you were raised (i.e. not having someone clean your silver spoon for you) than it is gender.

I have roommates that agonize about cleaning but never do it. so figure if its in my control, i have no one to blame but myself. plus it's never fun to clean a house down to fine detail and have roommates mess the place up quicker than it took to clean it..

roommates are not da nang.

Roomate thing....Only had one, We're still best friends. In fact living together made us better friends....I'm sure I'll experience worse rommates in the future.

somehow, when it comes to women, as men we put up with you...or at least try to anyway. But I'm still just as bewildered about women when they're alone, they can be just as equally crazy. I can also atest to seeing how many of my female friends get in the stupidist scraps for no reasons and never talk to each other again. Still, most girls are prettier (for lack of a better word) then most men (except for those bishounen japanese guys who, I don't get why, look way prettier then most japanese girls)

Then again, most Men are insane too. We're all just a bunch of idiots at times. How the hell do women (even gay men) like us still boggles my mind.

Males and Females.....what are you gonna do?

i do love my roommates (aside from what wasn't flushed this morning), so it's gonna suck giving them a months notice, since it's like telling that to some good friends

Ouch... my sister's been getting 8-10 day work schedules, she's pretty tired... but 12 12 hour days is mayhem!

Ah n no like 7 12 hour days. My new office is sexy tho. Fucking hell. It was worth the hard work and the fact that my back is so fucked i cant walk anymore. But its the sickest office ever. And i'm there 5 days a week so i might aswell like it. I dont like this 9 t 5 being part of the system kinda life, but i need the working experience. And i like most of my colleagues. And i have a sick desk. And the boss of the boss came in today and told me personaly that i'm doing really well and that he's very happy with me. And he never really gives compliments. This is not something i'm doing for extra cash cause i'm on a montly rate, but i do it for work-karma. Its my first real job so i need the work-karma! Haha. And my motto is : Work hard ,play hard. So when i play hard ( a bit like last weekend ) i justify it by working my ass off hahahaa.

So i'm not online much lately cause i am so busy. I do check here everyday and i check how everybody is doing. I dont even have time to phone whirly! But u know your in my mind sister.

Hope everybody is doing well here. I'm very good, happy with mips, had a great night in antwerp, feel good at work, things are very good here. Lots of love to you all !

Very busy 8 hour shift yesterday on zero sleep. Excellent day.

Very busy 8 hour shift today two people short on 6 hours sleep. Exhausting day.

Congrats Jeanie on how well you're doing. That's great!

Ahh 12 hour days....how I don't miss thee at all. Especially when they were nights at the airport and they could go 15 days with 1 day off...oh that sucked last year

My worst was working for a big construction firm as a student - 27 days out of 28 on a 12 hr shift. Def enjoyed the break at the end of that one!

I've been doing daft hours the last few months as well, and all over the place. Looking forward for a few weeks at home at Christmas with the kids (and this Saturday seeing the Chems as well - managing to get home for that)

I understand occasional stints where you have to work overtime just to meet work needs, but to hammer on for so many hours per day every day for an extended period of time... I have a hard time understanding how employers expect their employees to be working at full capacity under those types of mentally - which leads to physically - exhausting conditions.

I have a strong work ethic because I grew up in a family of work-a-holics - so the ethic is ingrained and I don't mind work, or working extra hours or filling in or picking up the slack when I'm asked. But I really, really hate being in the service industry this time of year. Have had more work dumped on me that I really have no business doing (accounting, wtf???) and there are other factors beyond my control so the stress level is higher than it needs to be... Hating my job a bit right now, but love my supervisor for being so great and loyal and fiercely protective... Can't wait for the holidays to be DONE.

I am paid decently and the job otherwise is OK (not what I'd call enjoyable but it does have its moments and I'm good at what I do), but I certainly wouldn't mind finding a new career path.

Definitely that way for me, you have to do what you have to do. Been a mental few weeks, but looking like this is an all nighter (330am just now) to get 2 reports, a design and presentation finished for meeting at 2pm tomorrow.

Saying that, watching the Celtic game on HK tv here, and they've just used the Reel followed by BRB as backing tracks in the build up. Nice.

I have decided no more overtime since I don't get paid for working extra and the CEO and COO refuse to pay out for any extra work put in by anyone. It's not a matter of doing what you gotta do - for me it's doing as asked and being compensated fairly for it (I don't get paid overtime, or comped vacation time - nothing) So really, with that in mind I refuse to stress anymore over other peoples' workloads that are dumped onto the workloads I have now. I am salaried, which is technically against the law since I'm not in management, then again it not like the labor board really gives a shit anyway. It's not that I'm lazy - far from it. I just want to be paid my fair share for working extra/giving up evenings and weekends whenever I'm asked, without question which is the kind of worker I am. The good thing is my boss - we're on the same page, she's rad and treats me extremely well so I can't really complain. It just feels better to write down "I refuse to stress anymore". Bah humbug.

Well good for you for standing up for yourself. Its good that you have a nice boss. A lot of employees these days are treated horribly and dont do anything about it. Its nice to see people stand up for themselves. Not enough people do it.

I totally agree, at my work, thats exactly whats expected of us and it sucks!! TO be honest, all I think about at work is anything other than work, they keep going on about career aspirations etc, however, my career aspirations lie outside the construction industry and lie within music, all day I just think up new drum patterns and base loops, I think i may have a screw loose but it helps get me through the day!If you have a boss/company that treat you with dignity, respect and are thanked on a regular basis for hard work, you'd feel happy putting in the odd extra hour here and there, but for me I'm counting down every minute until 16:30 and I always do my best to leave on the dot, ehich is fair enough because I don't get thanked for my hard work, I have an arse of a boss, a total bitch, and I know I'm on my soapbox a tad, but i just need to get it off my chest, so thanks for listening! :-)

But the thing is, if you find a job you enjoy and you are treated

My life is a boat, being blown by you. With nothing ahead, just the deepest blue... To me you're like a setting sun. You rise then you're gone.

I've been pretty fortunate that I've had bosses in the past who've gone to bat for me, or believed in the work I was producing. I've also had some really shit bosses and worked in ridiculous work environments...hehe. The company I work for isn't a bad place. It's a job. I'm very much a pushover in the workplace because it's just my ethic to do what's put in front of me, at all costs. I was even that way at the record store. I've got to say honestly I can never get the courage to stand up for myself until I've snapped, unleashed my vesuvian temper and gone on a tirade. Then I end up scaring everyone which is never good. I can't let it get to that point anymore. In the end the best I can do is put my head down, work hard, make my customers happy and be grateful I have a job to go to tomorrow. The alternative (being out of work) really, really really scares the crap out of me.

Anyway VMan, I hope things get better for you in the workplace. That's a drag having a boss that's so hard on you without ever so much a word of thanks. No wonder you need to vent. Being in a thankless, undiginified and overall bitchy atmosphere no matter how hard you try definitely warrants some venting!
