I'm not bitching or being outraged, i'm just dissapointed.

Just think of all the possibilities if the Chems didn't pick the lazy option and made an epic setlist by mixing Further with old stuff...

"lazy option"?

Come on man, you and your lazy opinions need to take a break.

No, dude, i just can't see myself dancing to Snow, Another World, Dissolve or Wonders of the Deep.

the people at sonar were raving massive to dissolve. a killer live track. another world was working live too. only k+d+b and WOTD were track to chill down a bit and just do some happy dancing. you need this two tracks after this mindblowing version of horse power and EV. what they've done with EV at sonar was also groundbreaking.

and hey, after 2010 they will change their setlist. so all watch this show live and won't say it's "easy" they did some cool variatons and also some different transitions between the tracks.

FURTHER IS DIFFERENT!

and so is their 2010 show.

Igorchete: Seriously take a break - your rants are sounding stupid now - It's upto the Chems what direction they take their music and show in - they don't hold a gun to any Salmon Dance fan's head to come to their gigs - they don't "have to" do anything man - it's still their gig.

I tried to avoid this topic as it seemed overwhelming as I read it but now I think I have an idea of what has come to my mind.

As igor has implied, we are the 2-3% die hard fanbase. We will always have our ideal setlist in mind. The fact is that only a few diehards will go to or care about every show that t and e put on around the world. They are presenting their material to audiences who will likely only see them once per tour, if that.

Now I am planning to see at least 2-4 of their sets this summer when they come NA side. For me as a faithful it is about reliving the live pilgramige. The fact that the show will probably be a minimal concern compared to the chance to share the experience with some of you again, or for the first time. Having the chance to experience it in multiple settings also creates totally different experiences (outside, inside, different cities).

@Ryno: Indeed.

@Igorchete: Really?

This has been the biggest change to the Chems' live set, probably ever. I welcome the change and whatever surprises I might find with it.

I'm sure when the Chems wrote Further they intended it to be listened to as a complete piece of work, a musical journey if you will, and with todays generation of mp3 downloaders who only download individual songs, its nice to see someone put out an album thats meant to be listened to as a complete album and not just a compilation of songs.
I definitely think playing an entire album live isn't a bad thing at all, even Primal Scream are set to play their Screamadelica album in its entirty live later this year. I'm sure after a few months they'll jumble the setlist about and resort back to a more standard shuffled selection of songs.

I think playing an album in its entirety is not totallly a bad idea (I saw Megadeth playing Rust In Peace back-toback during the show) but in the case of the Chems, I think it would be better to play a mixed-up setlist. When I watch the videos of the Roundhouse show, I see that some people are annoying and I'm sure that some of them think that the Chems are not acually playing (Further played live is just slightly different from the DVD). And the second half with only old tracks looks like a shortened version of WATN Tour, what makes it a little less good.
I love Further but I really think it would be better to mix its tracks with old stuff in order to have ONE show, and not 2 mini-shows.

The show Tom and Ed have lazily spent months and weeks and hours upon hours planning, synchronizing and rehearsing is already underway. It's done.

Opinions are fine n'all and it's nice to want stuff - but this thread changes absolutely nothing. The Chems are putting on a show, they aren't some world traveling piano bar taking song requests. I'm surprised Ed dignified this thread with his presence. At this point the topic is beating a dead horse.

Just let it go and don't think too hard about stuff you can't change and can't control. Just try and have fun at the show. You know they'll make it great no matter what they play.

Excuse me Ed, but I think you should consider taking the feedbacks as advice for the forthcoming tour. Of course you, along with Tom, are the boss, and therefore you decide, but fans' opinion is important too !
The show would be more chemical if Further were mixed with the old stuff IMO.

wow...... just seeing the chemical brothers isn't good enough anymore?

I think people complaining about, whatever it is that seems to bother them should take a step back, realise that you get to see two guys you
obviously admire and look up to in front of you doing what they do best. You complain now, but when you walk out of the shows when they come around, you will be smiling.

If you are going to whinge about what Ed and Tom do or do not play before the show, do them, yourselves and me a favour and just quit right now. Let someone else who would be so much more grateful go and have a wonderful evening.

Excuse me but there's something between AWESOME and disappointing. A chemical show, like any show, cannot be only 100 % good or 100 % bad. There's something in the middle.
Thus, we would like the shows to be as close as possible to 100 % good. Do you understand ? That's the reason why we don't prevent ourselves form underlining the negative points.

It's incredible how, each time someone complains about something with the chems, everyone responds by "you hate the chems, so get the fuck outta here !". I'm sorry but I think we can express our disappointments.

I think you should reserve judgment until after you've been to the show. It's not really fair to form judgment until you've experienced the latest incarnation of the Chems live show

You'd think that would be common sense wouldn't you?

Comment once you've read the book, seen the film, listened to the album etc etc.

The bad side of internet forums. Opinions for the sake of it. etc blah

I'm not even sure why I'm replying; it's depressing me slightly.

Personnaly lived the show to the roundhouse ;) And I Will always say the same : a great showcase. But to continue the tour until 2011 with the same tracklist is bad.
I can't fully explain my feeling due to the language barrier and the fact I'm writing on my phone, but some people here are stupid. We all love the same music, but some people don't hesitate to say things like "shut the fuck up" or "get out" just because we don't have same expectation... Stupid... If a band playing live during 1 year the same track, in the same order of the album and similar to the album is a "fucking great conceptual experience" for you, it's ok. But don't treat like badass people who are waiting for more by Tom & Ed. I'm asking myself in which category real fans are...
Calm down

Chemical brothers shows for 2010/11 are a 100% good idea.
