Religion is like communism: great in theory, but unavoidably full of contradictions and impossible for humans to actually pull off.
Now, of course, religion fascinates me and I study it at an academic level, but Christianity in particular (I single it out b/c I'm most familiar) as a religion is far more the construction of human compromises than a divinely inspired code. If it helps people out then far be it for me to criticize. Personally, organized church doesn't do it for me. (Although I do usually attend on Christmas Eve; tonight is an exception.)
Spirituality can be wonderful, it's when you try to reach a consensus with others about the divine that things break down. *shrug* To each their own.
I need a beer.

Oh, and for the verses cited above.....
For Luke: Where in the Hebrew Bible does it speak of a suffering Messiah who will be resurrected? If you say in Isaiah, with the suffering servant...... clearly a metaphor for Israel as a nation. No matter what Philip says in Acts 8.26-35.
For Peter: Contrast with many passages throughout the Pauline Epistles where Paul urges absolute vigilance because the end is at hand. Contrast Mark 9:1 (clearly apocalyptic) with Luke 9:27 (copying the same passage from Mark, but altering it slightly to refer instead to the Transfiguration). This verse from Peter is clearly a theological justification for the fact that nothing has happened yet (yet being roughly 1950 years ago). Not to mention that it wasn't written by Peter (who was illiterate).
For Revelations: To share in the "first resurrection" explicitly requires martyrdom for Christ's sake. Don't know how many willing martyrs you'll find on a dance music internet board. But keep trying.
And don't take this as a personal attack. As I said in the previous post, to each their own. Feel free to rebutt me. (If noone else wants said discussion cluttering the board, say so and we can keep it to PMs. Personally, I think it could be interesting 8O . Nor do I really expect a rebuttal, but it was cool seeing my first online Jesus street team. heh. )
Oh, and other than looking up the verses, this was off the cuff. Guess I learned something in school this semester after all.

You see, religion is crutches of the past, used and abused.
You're riding the waves of change.
Some more clues from the past:
Genesis 2:3
The biblical story
Revelation 20:6
Freedom awaits, open the gates.
Open your mind, freedom's a state.
My finger is on the button.
Merry Christmas! (even to that poet from South Park)
:)

i must say i do belive in it all, not cause im weak but i think its a nice thing to have.
Yeah alot is loads of rubbish and does need to be updated to fit with modern life and society.
But how come u people celebrate xmas if u dnt belive in it? It does bring alot of good things.
The thing that also pisses me off is when people try and push it in your face when you dnt ask for it, surely people that do that like 'jo hos' and street preachers are breaking a set of moral priciples that there religion stands by through taking it to an extreme simular to terrorists.

Hmmm. Well, talking about religion always ends up in a circular argument. Every time. Kind of like politics. ;) People are just set in their ways. Arguing spirituality... I just do't want to go there right now.
To each their own, and remember...
Jesus is the reason for the season!! X-D

Disagreed. Elaborate.
He put on a turn-down collar, a black bow, and wore his Sunday tail-coat. As such, he looked spruce, and what his clothes would not do, his instinct for making the most of his good looks would.
