I thought it was quite "Del Toro", especially the aesthetics

I was supposed to see Pacific Rim tonight, been looking forward to this for ages. That was until I recently found out it stars my least favourite actor

I'm gonna take a guess at Idris Elba. He and Ron Pearlman are the only actors I would recognise from that cast. Though it turns out that Charlie Hunnam was in Byker Grove. Ant & Dec will be jealous of his Hollywood success (I hope!).

I went to see Pacific Rim, and it was awesome. Appart from a couple plot holes and predictable twists, the design of the movie is really great, and the battles are epic

Thanks for that you bastard! I spent the whole film thinking about

I didn't think it was Del Toro at all! It's was a Hollywood blockbuster ffs

Idris Elba is magnificent, mainly for his role in The Wire (never realised he was British!) and then BBC's Luther. It's Pearlman who I hate. So much.

Anyway, the film was ok. I expected more, Del Torro is no longer Del Torro.

I'm not quite familiar with Del Toro's work, I saw Pan's Labyrinth which I liked very much. Any recommendations?

It's all about Pan's Labyrinth for me, but Blade II was fantastic, may watch that again tonight actually.
The Devils Backbone was quite good, but I didn't really like Chronos that much even though it's a respected film. He "presented" The Orphanage, and this is an excellent suspense horror.

Just saw Pacific Rim, quite epic as fights go, touch too long, and as said before, great in imax.

Bombay Beach from the same creator of that god awful Shia Labeouf Sigur Ros music video, Alma Har'el.

Documentary is about 3 different people and how they go about living their lives in California's Salton Sea. If you've never seen pictures of the Salton Sea it reminds me of a real life version of Fallout. It's a perfect place to have a movie around because it's so damn eerie. I've always wanted to see it with my own eyes since it's very close to the Coachella festival, but never have made the extra effort.

Anyways, the film is pretty good. I love the way Alma captures images in this film. You can find it on Netflix and it is worth a watch.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

Good watch, i think i might travel to Iceland or Greenland.

Chimpanzee

Again a good watch, not the quality of BBC's Planet Earth (too much Disney in it) but worth a look.

Gravity seems to have made a return to cinemas now that awards season is upon us. Anyone who hasn't seen this needs to grab the chance to see it in 3D on the biggest screen possible. Don't wait for the DVD/Blueray.

I've seen the original 1947 version. Does that count?

^ lol

Just finished season 3 of The Wire. Two seasons to go. Great TV program. Very realistic, and top notch acting from a bunch of nobodies. True Detective and Boardwalk Emprie on my list next. Thank you HBO Go.

I'm typically a movie guy, but I haven't been inspired to see any new films lately.

Just saw Wrong this evening. I liked Rubber a lot better, but I thought Wrong had some really enjoyable moments in it. I may give it a re-watch at some point again, too.

Ha I had forgotten about Wrong until Ben_J posted the trailer to Wrong Cops so I have both to watch now. Not sure when I'll get a chance as I'm playing The Last of Us. My first PS3 experience. Yeah I'm out of touch, but that happens.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman has died.
Fucking hell these actors have got to stop OD-ing on drugs. Especially the talented ones.

^ So sad... The demons of addiction causing yet another useless death. Heartbreaking loss of incredible talent.
