Personally I like Underworlds singles collection and The Prodigys collection mainly as there is such a good varition in tracks and sounds showing the bands progression over the years, just like the singles 93-03.
I hope that like the chems the likes of Underworld, Basement Jaxx, Fatboyslim, Faithless and The Prodigy all go on and continue making good music and that the greatest hits is not the end, just a break and showcase of the music in the past and hint of the good music to come.

Fatboy Slim - "Why Try Harder", which is out today. A very, very good best of. The remixes sound cool too, I have to listen to all of them.
Thanks for letting me know fatboy's album out today. Im loving these collective albums it means i can push the button and listen to all my fav tracks in one hit, especially when gardening, nothing like some good albums when digging.

To be honest I don't look at the Chems Singles album as a Greatest Hits. It's a Singles comp, almost a sort of retrospective with the 2 new (at the time) singles having a foot in the future... But I guess I'm just being nitpicky. ;)
Anyway. I'm looking forward to the Greatest Hits from the Fat One, I like him and will support what he does. As far as Greatest Hits/Single/Comps go, I do have a few comps/hits in my collection that I dig but it's not necessary to list them here because they are not in the dance vein as suggested since the beginning of this thread. But if I really dig the band then I'd rather listen to the songs on their respective albums - as mc marsh puts it. For example as much as I love the Reel, it is weird to hear it in the middle of an album rather than at the end of Dig Your Own Hole - then again I completely understand it's placement within Singles.
But I also have a soft spot for these comps as well. It's a good way to introduce someone to a band, get their feet wet, give em a quick tour of watching a band evolve over the course of 12 or 13 songs without inundating the listener who can be intimidated by a band's large back catalogue.
What I don't get are artists whose record companies start pumping out Greatest Hits cd's when the artist only has a couple of albums under their belt. But that's another rant for another day.

Hey, for those who have gotten the new Fatboy compilation, what does the new song on it sound like? ... not the Old Pair of Jeans one, the other new one thats supposed to be on it
Cheers! :)
Champion sound....... It reminds me very much of palookaville, its ok but not really a pounding dance record that I was hopeing for.

Not sure why Cookboy opted to put remixes on his 'Best Of...' though. He has lots of songs as Fatboy Slim, and remixes aren't entirely his. If I would do a 'Best Of...' I would only put songs that are mine on it.
And why the hell did he put 'Everybody Loves A Carnival' (instead of the classic Everybody Needs A 303) and the clean version of Gangsta Trippin' on it?
Nope, not the 'Best Of...' I was hoping for. Average.

Basement Jaxx - "The Singles"
Rage Against The Machine - "Live at the Grand Olympic Auditorium" (which really isnt their greatest hits, but they deffinately play all their great songs in this great final performance)

I like "Champion Sound" but not "That old pair..."... Anyway I want big sounds like he used to do with Retow, Ya Mama, Acid 8000 etc... Fatboy Slim did 3 perfect albums and a crappy one, that's really a shame he became like that... I hope the chems won't do a palookaville-esque album :?
I think I like champion sound better also, from what I just now listened of it. That Old Pair of Jeans doesn't remind me so much of Praise You than a more comercialized palookaville song, which I don't seem to enjoy much.
However, I did like half of Palookaville, which makes it a good album to me.

I purchased this a little while back, must say im a fan of it, however never really listen to leftfield that much so wouldnt notice if its been heavily edited to all fit on one cd.
I quite like the recent DFA compliation of there remixes.
