Erol's remixes are a bit hit and miss imo. His remix of Franz Ferdinand's 'Do You Wanna' is one of my fave remixes of all time, but I thought his remix of 'Believe' was very average.
I'm hoping this will be one of his hits of course.

i hope he doesnt go all 'durr durr durr" on it. but if he cuts the vocals up he might do a good chance he could pull something out of it. i just i hope there is energy because that believe remix was very laid back. i dont want sunday afternoon sitting on the dock of the bay shitte right now. energy:drums:acid
and the fatboy remix i kinda liked on the come with us single. in fact everything about come with us i liked. that album was ace. #2 on my list.

correct me if im wrong, but the wizards sleeve stuff is more like baleric/psychedelic rock rock re-edits stuff. very much in a harvey-esque vein.
personally i think its ace and much better than his usual output and im well lookin forward to it!!
theres an ep here: http://www.phonicare...l.aspx?ID=20855
think battlescars is well ripe for this treatment!!

jack said *the other remix by whatever foundation is so bad*
yeh thats h-foundation, west coast tech house monkeys - they were media darlings for a few months back in 2001 - they did an amazing remix of silicone soul called chic-o-la and a couple of other tidy remixes.
then everyone (well, me ;)) came off the mitsis/stopped smoking copious amounts of weed and realised that all the west coast records sounded identical.
that remix of chic-o-laa is still the fuckin nuts though.

chic-o-laa is a beautiful tune!!
i'm sure we have covered this before, next we'll be talking how good Pete Heller productions can be, but how poor his star guitar mixes were!! i remember fatboy slim was originally asked to remix star guitar but he turned it down cos the tune was to beautiful that he decided not to butcher it.
back to errol. i hope he can pull a decent mix out for us this time, its been a while since we heard a decent remix of the chems

I'm not a big fan of erol alkan - except when i see him dj. I dont really rate his remixes...they are to DUURR DUURRRR DURRR and to...i dont know. Noisy. I like noise , in fact i LOVE noise , i like things that are a bit off and raw and unpolished , but i just dont like the stuff he's done.
To see him dj , on the other hand , is wicked.
His choice of records is EXCELLENT.

his remixes are very hit and miss. his klaxons remix is nice but believe remix is not my cup of tea . his remixes under the beyond the wizards sleeve alias have been top notch so far and more pyschedelic and warmer than distortion of say his durr durr re edit, his scissors remix is well nice though more disco-y
