Made a great impulse purchase last night. While on my way out to my friend's b-day, my other buddy wanted a pack of smokes and I wanted an energy drink, so we stopped by a pharmacy. On my way to the drink aisle, right at eyelevel was Michael Jackson's Thriller for only $9.99. Sold!

The cashier laughed at me but then admitted he really liked the album.

'Thriller' and 'Billie Jean' made me feel more than a little bit in the mood to dance.

Bought Gus Gus's new album Forever and Air's Pocket Symphony in the last couple of weeks.

Gus Gus - Forever. A real dancefloor-friendly acidfest! A little disappointing for me though, every track is kinda minimal 4x4 stuff and there's none of the chilled, ethereal, arctic numbers which worked so well on Polydistortion (although that album's 10 years old now!). The album is a real epic at about 70mins long, there's quite a few very long tracks on there. 6/10.

Air - Pocket Symphony - Whilst not being quite as good as Moon Safari or Talkie Walkie, I find it difficult to dislike this album. I thought Q magazine's use of the word 'introspective' was an interesting way of looking at it. Most of the tracks sound like something they've done before, like Napalm Love and Red Headed Girl (probably the weakest track on the album) but I love Mayfair Song, Mer du Japan and Lost Message. One Hell of a party is growing on me as well. Would be interesting to read what other people think of this album (have you bought it yet Whirly? ;-) ) 7/10

I really want Pocket Symphony but I haven't gotten around to buying it yet. :( I have a few things on my list I feel like I'm missing out on and it's been a while since I've gone out and purchased cd's. We're going to San Francisco next month as a birthday present for our son, so I plan on doing a little shopping at Amoeba when we're there (in between the massive public transportation fest we're taking our son on).
