And now to school uniforms!
I understand your arguments for school uniform and how you feel about it, but still, even if we would have school uniforms (i'm talking about sweden here :P) ppl can find different things to bully for, I experienced that when I was living in japan, eventhough I weared the same uniform as the other pupils I was still different. People will always be different from each other, even with the same clothes on. And why would beeing differen't from eachother be a bad thing? I think it's a great thing, let's teach ppl to accept eachother as differe'nt individuals instead, when everybody can accept that, that's when we all can play on the same level if you know what i mean (man I suck at english). Introducing an school uniform might add to the team-spirit of a school, but the difference rivalry between other schools will increase.

I agree with you Mips.
I think school uniforms are a good idea.
I remember i was the only girl in class who didn't wear nike air max. My mum always gave me everything i needed , but she didnt have to money to buy this expensive shoes for me. I remember how much fun this girls made of me for wearing cheap shoes.
And this is just one example.
I think with school uniforms u make everybody equal. Rich or poor , they all look the same.
All the chavs wear them.. so its good you never got them :P

Please post more argument for or against my line in the question! It's been a great help to come up with things...
Yeh, no matter what clothes you wear, certain people are going to stand out (rich and poor) like lack of presentation for example and the kind of uniform you get. In my school there is like Geniune Blazers with the badge stitched in and then there are the cheaper ones with a badge sewed on.
Cheaper ones - poor Kids
Geniune Ones - Rich Kids..
And at our school no one really gives a fuck really X-D
We'd all like to have our own clothes! So i support egil :P

hmm, yeh ok i see what your saying. and their are ways of telling the class or status of a kid other than his uniform, but i still think its a lot more subtle when your all dressed the same.
and tbh - most kids would weare pretty much identical stuff anyway if given a chance - nikey air, hilfiger jeans, some form of shirt/polo shirt. i know what your saying about 'individualism' amd stuff, but then where do u draw the line? what if a 13 year old wants to go to school all gothed up? should that be allowed?
when u hit college at 16, yeh sure man do what the fuck u want, i wore some shocking tartan baggy trousers at college :-// but till your 16 or whatever i still reckon a uniforms a good idea.
ps - and im sure your not uber hardcore either :)

Other than that, the kids could wear pretty much what they wanted. It was the private school kids that had to wear uniforms. Oh, and uniforms for some innercity schools is the norm because kids were getting beaten over their Nikes and whatnot. I think in some situations, uniforms are in order but I don't think this is something that needs to be clear across the board.
Personally, I enjoyed not having to wear a uniform. I never did dress very nice for school, I got teased and stuff when I was a kid. I dressed like a friggen hippie most of the time in high school until I started working a job after school. I remember rumors floating around about having us kids wear uniforms, but it never came to pass. Thank god.
I think in adolescence and young adulthood, kids need to find a way to express themselves within reason. They are at school for the better part of the day adhering to rules and studying hard and generally just trying to get by without incident - the freedom to express oneself through dress is the only thing that a.) kids have that sets them apart and b.) kids have that to help them belong. Dress codes should be sufficient enough in most situations. If a kid wants to dress goth, he should be able to. If a kid wants to dress like a preppie, he should, or if a kid wants to dress like a crusty little gutter punk, why not if that's the way he wants to show his individuality. If the girls want to be trendy in their Roxy clothes, let them. Or if they want to dress like hippie burnouts, why not?
Kids are not given enough credit for being able to stamp out their own style or individuality - eveen if through adult eyes we see it as something like a phase or clique. It's such a massive time for growth and change and kids are always reinventing themselves. I think they should be given the freedom to do so. There's

I just think it's so adorable to see my husband cooking up a storm in the kitchen, it's like watching all the tension of his day disappear, and he gets this cute, content look on his face.
I am also glad I married into an Italian family. Nobody ever goes hungry, and the cooking gene is passed down through the generations so there is hope for my son.
