I must agree that the new Vitalic album is much better than Temporary Pleasure. I think I only listen to 2-3 songs off of SMD's new album now, while I can still listen to whole of OK Cowboy still, and Vitalic's new album is at least equal in quality.
I hope V never "sells out" and feels the need to put concrete vocals in all their tracks.

yeah, finally SMD changed their style, but in a very "high quality" way. that's not everbodies taste. i also liked the first SMD far better. SMD's new album is like the chems WATN aka very vocalISH at last.
vitalic's new album for me is the album of the year cause it's compact electrotech(house?) or intelligent hardpop if you want...but far away from mainstream (and without lousy vocals, but that's a matter of taste). like his style alot over the years. also saw him doing livesets...awesome!! when i play poison lips or your disco song during a set, people went crazy...
but to come back to SMD: i hope their next album is less vocalish and more straight forward like the first one. hopefully the chems will go further (or backwards) and release a album which is just about the synths and not about the guest vocalists (except for beth)...but i think chem7 will be beyond WATN and all the other albums (...pleeze do a dubstep track :) :) :))

I think how he (Vitalic) takes on vocals with his music is the best way to go. He doesn't let the vocals take over the track, it's all in the flow of the rhythm of the song. And The best part, he distorts the vocal like nobody's business.
As for his style of music, I really dig the dark undertone he creates. With a lot of his songs I feel like I'm listening to the soundtrack of the Apocalypse. A very beautiful disaster feel.

I never really had a problem with the vocals on WATN... but I agree, I'd really like to hear Beth or Hope Sandoval on the next album. I've been listening to alot of Mazzy Star/Hope Sandoval and it is really great alternative stuff... had 4 of those albums on repeat for about 8 hours and didn't even realize, because her voice is so enchanting.

I really want to see SMD this winter. They played Toronto this past weekend and I found out about it too late to plan a trip. That frustration is what pushed me to make Fabric a priority.
And I really like Temporary Pleasures, BTW. Cruel Intentions is really getting unfairly maligned on here.

Anyone in Australia might get a chance to see them again at the Big Day Out next year :). I missed them this year and was kicking myself afterwards but hopefully they will come back next year...

I like Temporary Pleasures although as usual with me I need to listen to it a few more times! Just listened to Cruel Intentions as I couldn't remember it but I'd say its one of my favourite tracks on the album.
As for Vitalic's Flashmob, as it happens I've just listened to it on Spotify and it was rather awesome.

Hey guys. Is anyone able to ID the second track that Simian Mobile Disco play in this clip of them DJing (after the Animal Collective track)?

Set list (according to my altered, not-very-reliable altered mind at the time):
Sleep Deprivation
Flea in Your Ear (/Run?)
It's the Beat
Aspic
Audacity of Huge
10,000 Horses Can't Be Wrong
Hustler
Cruel Intentions
(maybe Are You in the Picture) (/Run?)
Simple/Off the Map (THIS SOUNDED AMAZING!!!!)
Tits & Acid
Scott
Believe (/Run?)
Ambulance
I swear--they brought back elements of Run throughout the entire set. I kept hearing bits and loving it.
My favorite part was hearing the vocals of Off the Map layered over Simple--it sounded simply awesome! I like Off the Map as a song, but it's a little ridiculous in how "cool" the track tries to be, and having the vocals match up with the major chords (read, happy sounding) of Simple instead of the minor chords (read, sad sounding) of Off the Map.
I was a little worried that the crowd wouldn't be as big because it was the day after Thanksgiving, but I think the floor ended up being filled to near-capacity, if not completely full. People loved the set. :D
Also, there was this guy outside who was nearly salivating to get into the show. He was a dorky guy with glasses, and he came up to me and started saying, "Man, do you have a dollar to help me get into this show, man? I mean, Simian Mobile Disco--these guys are awesome. This is the ONE BAND that I really want to see! I've seen Daft Punk, Carl Cox, and man, do you think you could just give me a dollar to help me get in?"
I asked how much money he had. He said two bucks. I gave him $23, and he nearly blew me in the parking lot. (not really ;-) )
Amazing energy during the set, my friends who had never seen an electronic music show had a lot of fun, and I had an absolutely phenomenal time. SMD played the SHIT out of each and every track--even Cruel Intentions, which they generally don't do much with. And I could tell that they are still loving what they do, and rocking the hell out of everywhere they go.
Great, amazing, awesome, superb electronic musicians. :D

I think Simple/off the map was after believe, I recall their encore was almost a second set as it was way longer. Anyways, good show, very fun vibe. Jamie saw the guy you gave the money to and it looks like he was getting his money's worth popping and locking. Very nicely done pooter!
