You're stuck on a deserted island for a long, arbitrary period of time, and the only consolation is that you can bring up to three albums (and listening equipment + power supply, pedants) with you. What albums do you bring?

From three genres I love the most, this will be a easy pick:

Radiohead - OK Computer
Few albums are traveling with me trough life, and this is one of them. It's brilliant in all ways; production, tempo, mood (atmosphere), Yorke's haunting vocals, sheer madness of it in parts, and sheer bliss in others. From all other pieces of art, this one stands apart.

W.A. Mozart - Requiem

From Dies Irae, with it's brilliant second part (that sounds almost pop, voices wise) to fired up Confutatis to mournful, beautifully soft Lacrimosa, although I believe much of it isn't Mozart's (ironic, no?), this piece moves me as few others does.

Chemical Brothers - Further

Few years ago, I would have said Surrender without thinking. But now.... no. Do I have to say why? Opening Snow is truly a piece of art in my mind (don't get me started on Snow!), EV is beautiful beyond words... Whole album is, to cut it short. For my money, it's CB crowning achievement, music at it's best. No vocal trickery, only pure emotion, pure music.

The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses.

Because the songs will still sound so fresh,

Surrender - Chemical Brothers

Still knocks me out when i hear it. I reckon i could listen Sunshine Underground for 24 hours straight

Ill Communication - Beastie Boys

I fucking love the beastie boys and this is their most varied work. it was close between Ill Communication or Hello Nasty for which album to take

Oh man, another Sophie's Choice thread, haha!

This is not easy. These types of threads are never really a walk in the park, are they? ;-) I love the reading what other people choose.

Anyway, so difficult. But here are my 3 desert island essentials.

U2 - Achtung Baby. Very hard toss up between this and Joshua Tree. Both have weathered time well. Achtung Baby trumps it though. There are too many good memories associated with that album. Being 19 and 20 was just too much fun.

Spiritualized - Lazerguided Melodies. No question about bringing this along. It's easily one of my favorite albums. Ever. Period.

Chemical Brothers - Further. Because my life wouldn't be complete, anywhere or anytime, without their music. This was the hardest choice out of the bunch because all of their albums (and I truly mean every single one) holds a special place with me. Be it great memories of good times, seeing me through rougher times, or the music hitting me in a deeply personal way that I can properly express to others... This album is the sum of all of the great things I love about the Chemical Brothers' music.

I'd go for:

Amon Tobin - ISAM
Chemical Brothers - We Are The Night (or Come With us... not fully decided yet)
Propellerheads - Decksndrumsandrockandroll

Honourable mention for:

Orbital - In Sides
Prodigy - Dirtchamber sessions vol. 1
Enigma - MCMXC a.d.
Kraftwerk - Trans-Europe Express/Computer World
Daft Punk - Alive 1997

I probably wouldn't bring any because a) a power supply on a forsaken island seems a little far fetched and b) if I were to bring only 3 albums, I'd probably hate them after the 1000th time of listening. And I don't want that happening.

Ha really? I love that album but it's abrasive and offensive and I think the local tribes would see it as an act of war.

You know you don't have to listen to it constantly? You can play it when and if you want.
