I saw this Old Navy commercial about 2 weeks ago and it's being aired regularly on television here in the States. When I first heard it my ears did a double-take (I am deaf, you know ;) ) If the song created in this ad isn't a ripoff of Marvo Ging, I'm not sure what is!

I paid $4 for the last pair of cords I got from Old Navy... you just have to wait until the clearance sale.

WFT is that, Garvo Ming? I saw that commercial too and thought it was the chems song.

On a slightly random note: Marvo does remind me a lot of the Stone Roses song Waterfall/Downfall:

and

But Marvo is more a nod off, kinda like GYH is to Planet Rock. I was going to bring that up as a topic but it seemed kinda pointless. Listen to the whole song and you'll understand why I think it.

Aside from that, one would think that Old Navy, a company that pays people slave-wadges to indonesian sweat-shop workers would be able to afford to pay the chems a generous amount for the actual song. Oh well, the point is Old Navy sucks.

That so close to marvo ging that it's sitting on top of it but slightly to the side in a kind of off kilter kinda thing.

Are we sure that Marvo Ging is an original piece? To me it sounds like it's sampled.

a lot of ads contain soundtracks that sound like actual tracks but they are actually reworked in order not to pay copyright stuff.. I hate when they do that

They had an eye-contact commercial a few years ago that did the same thing. They had this song in it that was in spitting distance to star guitar, everything about it sounded like star guitar only off by a little, kinda like that crap-tribute.

Exactly how I felt when I saw it on TV. When it started for a split second I thought it was marvo ging.

Meh it's diff enough... I'm by no means defending Old Navy when I say this but the ad was prob made before PTB.

I highly doubt the ad was made before Push The Button came out. The world of advertising moves along very quickly.

The idea, along with several others was likely pitched to Old Navy a while ago, and the green light was likely given anywhere between 4 and six months ago. Filming that commercial probably took less than a few days.

Adding the music is pretty much the last thing on the to-do list in advertising. It was probably put in shortly after the editing was completed.
