Just watched the Argentina game, good enough performance by Argentina but major respect to Ivory Coast, kept going right until the end, the Argies were shitting themselves after 80 minutes!! I think Holland are gonna have a real job on their hands against the West Africans!!
Been a great World Cup so far (after two days!), some great football stories...hope there's more to come.

ahhh the world cup 8)
england v paraguay - not a classic performance from england - the first 30 mins was wicked, we played some really neat football and paraguay looked terrified. but the second half was pretty poor, we were unable to kepe the ball and play a bit of posession football, which allowed a paraguay side to look better than they were. and as for svens subs, dont get me started owen hargreaves should not be in the squad - simple. right at the end when he fluffed the clearance i thought it was tantamount to the heskey style error of euro 2004.
i do think the heat was a factor though ,they looked like they were playing in treacle at some points, and heat is obviously something the paraguay boys are much more used to. its no excuse, but 30degrees is a fuckin hot day to be playing international football - but i do think it was a big factor in our second half performance.
the encouraging points: 1) we never do well in our first games in torunaments, so a win here was wicked 2) we KNOW we can play better, and we still got 3 points 3) a sign oif a great team is that they win even if they are playing badly. fact.
i really dont think england were as bad as everyone is making out to be honest. solid, professional performance in difficult heat circumstances against a paraguat side who stepped up to the occassion.
and, especially after the draw with sweden and t & t, thins are looking pretty rosy for england! 8)
sweden v t & t - entertaining match, and respect for t & t for hanging on, and even giving the swedes a scare. great result from englands point of view. nothing about either of these teams really scared me, i wiould have thought england would beat both of them, especially with later kick off times.
argies v ivory coast - oof this was a corker. ivory coast have a very strong, physical team. they were very close in the first half, but its only the fact the argies have some amazing playmakers/strikers that speerated the 2. thought both teams looked really, really good, is a tough group for holland to be in.
so today, i shall only be watching the holland game as i have too much work to do, but i shall be giving the dutchies a cheer!!

Just watched the Mexico vs Iran game. Iran played some decent stuff at times but Mexico looked class going forward, I think at 1-1 Iran were happy to hold on but were outdid in the last 15 mins.
Anyone else from England pissed off with the over-coverage by the media? At half-time of the Mexico game BBC spent 10 mins covering England - "and now we go live to the England camp" so basically they're drinking water and spending time with their families - ffs wait til there's something to report!!

I'm telling you how it is. I'd like to see them win also, but they have to start playing better.
I think you should play with them, they will be better, because
SLIPVIN IS THE BEST, SLIPVIN BEATS THE REST
Go Slipvin !

to be fair to slipvin, i do think he has a point!
thought the dutch started really well, great first half, technically very profficient, great going forward, robben was a constant threat, they were great at keeping the ball and they really exploited the gaps left at the back as s & m pushed forward.
but the second half was very simillar to what happened with england actually, i think fatigue set in a bit and they allowed s & m to play more and more.
the difference between englands second half and the dutch second half was positional play - in england the first half formation was like this:
x x
and the second half looked more like this:
x x
and this just invited pressure on, whereas the dutch held their first half formation much better, which allowed them top play further up the park. this can only be down to englands training and how theyve been told to line up when the opposition has the ball ,and whilst it does make it very difficult to attack against, it means when we do get posiession theres no link up play to midfield, and we lose possesion more easily. especially with svennis's substitutions.
but - great result for the dutch, would be an interesting match if england meet them in the quarters - what they have to remember is that we see van persie, nistelroy and robben every week in the premiership so thers no way theyd get the space like they got today.
had to work though the other 2 matches sadly :(
