I've heard Moby was mentioned but i was surprised it wasn't
Moby - Play
You gotta give the man credit for play, every single track was used on the album for a commercial,Tv show, or in a movie. Come on, 18 tracks... Thats AWESOME
Also, i'd like to add to the list
'Gatecrasher - Wet'
BUT HEAR ME OUT ON THIS ONE.... Yes okay so it's a dance compilation with tracks selected by Scott bond and probably mixed by a computer. But For the year 1999 almost every single one of those tracks shaped dance music for the next 5 years and are STILL being remixed today. See for yourself, read the tracklist on Amazon.com or something. Gatecrasher was indeed a massive big sellout but to anyone who has a copy i urge you to read the sleevenotes. I shit you not, this is a quote:
"The Chemical Brothers invented Big Beat but now they prefer to be at Gatecrasher"
SO I AM UNASHAMED!

His latest DVD features his headline performance at Glastonbury 2003. I was there and it was bloody amazing. It's worth it for "Feeling So Real" alone. Top dude.
Formerly known on here as "Tyler"

Well, these are just of the top of my head, and I have written reasonings behind each of them. They're not ranked... By definition, a classic album is one that stamped it's authority on the scene, changed something, and is listenable from beginning to end without skipping tracks.
It's harder to pick classic albums as they are packages, you can't base them on just a handful of tracks. They also have to relate to the time when they came out. A rave album like The Prodigy Experience released in 200 has no relevance, no matter how good the tracks are... it's easier to pick classic songs, as they define the artist, more than anything, like Papua New Guinea for FSOL or Private Psychedelic Reel for Chems or Pacific for 808 State.
My list is no doubt flawed, it misses out on a lot of 80's stuff. It has mostly 90's albums in it...
Leftfield - Leftism - By popular belief, a great album. It's got anthems, it's not album-fillers, it's not just dance. It's electronic.
Leftism - Rhythm & Stealth - Shows that classics do not have to feed off former glory in order to be great. This album was different. sounded darker, but proved that change is an important element in dance music
Chemical Brothers - DYOH - What it did for Big Beat. New classics.
Chemical Brothers - Surrender - Good time to jump off the Big Beat wagon, as all the prenteders were starting to pollute this genre with crap. Once again, change is an important element in any band's history.
All of Prodigy's albums. They are all dance. they are all different. They have always progressed and never relied on any former glory. It's what they've always been about. They have always heralded new movements in the early days, and decided to do their own thing, and it always sounds raw, and interesting, as they fuse so many elements of so many genres, yet sound like nothing out there (like do all of the artists listed here). If one stands out, that's probably Music for The ilted Generation. It kick-started the philosphy of never be comfortable with what you've done in the past, look to the future.
Not sure which of Orbital's albums to pick, each era had something to offer... thei sound hasn't evolved much, their song structures and production skills have...
Future Sound of London - Dead Cities - Great soundtrack to Urban "Pollution". Perfect sounds for perfect imagery. Proves that ambient isn't just floaty music, but music that successfully transports the imagery from musician to listener.
Underworld - Everything, Everything - Showcasing that live is where it's at. Filled with their classics, this teaches the listener about the spontaneity and energy of the live medium with true dance music
Basement Jaxx - Remedy - rescued house music, and pulled in other great genres such as two-step, garage, jungle, etc...
Emprion - Advanced Technology - Good, clean techno.
Chicane - Far From The Maddening Crows - Some trance can be healthy. Nice, ambient, relaxing songs in here...
808 State - Don Solaris - A comfortable movemenet from the Acid House scene they song long gripped in their hands. Great fusions of rock and dance in some places.
Orb - Orblivion - Leftfield ambient at it's best. If you need drugs to understand this, you're missing the point. The album is the drug.
If there's more, I'll be back...

Gatecrasher Red, trance was really good in 99.
First three Prodigy albums.
Underworld-Everything, Everything+Beaucoup Fish
Chemicals-PTB+Surrender+DYOH and also the second disc on the Singles 93-03.
Leftfield, Rhythm and Stealth.
I also like the second Garbage album too.
