As any long-suffering boyfriend or husband knows, some women just love to talk. Now research shows that females talk more than men even when communicating by text message. The study by Sheffield Hallam University found women write longer messages than men.
Women key in detailed messages, brimming with personality and affection, while men stick to brief, nononsense texts. Women also use abbreviations and icons such as "smiley" faces made out of full stops and commas more.
Dr Simeon Yates observed the mobile phone habits of hundreds of people. He found that female text messages typically go on for 82 characters, while men get their point across with just 68. Women offer their friends love and support, while men often resort to sarcasm, sexual humour and swearing.
Yates, who lectures in communication studies, said: "Women always start off by saying something like 'How are you?' and will finish with 'love' or 'take care' or 'with lots of kisses'. In between those, there are very often one or two sentences the equivalent of a large chunk of a conversation packed into one message. In contrast, when a man texts a mate, he doesn't even send a sentence?the message is information-based."
Text message diaries kept by the 18 to 30-yearolds taking part in the study also revealed that men alter their strategy when sending texts to women. When trying to stoke a romance, men send longer, more expressive messages. Daily Mail

Strasbourg is in the middle of Austria, Lyon is in the middle of nowhere (it's called "Auvergne", frenchmen will understand :) )
Cannes is about 200 miles at the west, and they couldn't even place Paris at the right place...
A 12 year old kid on a geography homework, I could understand this type of mistakes, but it's CNN... it's like if the first french channel show an USA map with New York in Canada, Los Angeles in the middle of Texas and Boston in Florida...

I agree it's not war like it's in Irak , but believe me , this is gonna affect Europe. In fact , the first cars have been set on fire in Holland as well. And we have some sick ass mofo's living here ( Foreign AND Dutch , and not being a racist here ) so i wouldn't be suprised if this gets out of hand.
It's not about the cars that are being set on fire , nor the fights with the police. It's the fact that innocent people with children are living in this area's.
For them it's not only burning cars and throwing stones at policemen.

It's a strong contrast to here, America, which has just politically turned to shit over the past 5 years (hmm no correlation with the president I'm sure ) and nobody does anything. It's strange given that in the 60's America was fighing so strongly for beliefs and rights (even while on acid and all that stuff), and yet today most people are too preoccupied with their XBoxs and getting fat while listening to Lil Jon to give 2/3rds of a shit about anything going on out of your living room. Look at how many people voted in the 18-25 group. It didn't change a bit compared to the election before.
If these people are out there burning cars that is an expression of outrage towards something, and even if the means of expressing that are violent and aggressive, it still shows they feel strongly and unionized about something. And that's more than what has been going on here.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here and say there are some good things about riots. It shows that some of the youth in France feels so strongly about oppression/descrimination/poverty or whatever specifically ales them that they're willing to risk going to jail and getting in deep shit for that.

As much as it feels good to, I don't think even Bush can be blamed for this one. Ever since the Soviet Union fell, the West has just become to complacent in general. People feel as though there are no genuine threats to their existence, whether external or internal. Apoliticality is simply the order of the day.
Up here disenfranchisement is pretty much the norm, yet no one (myself incl.) does anything more than complain about it.
