No, it's Far Cry with better graphics.
F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin is going to be the greatest game ever.

"my son begged, and cried, and had to get a wii for christmas... he hasn't touched the damn thing since April."
Yeah, the reason he hasn't touched it is for the same reason I've barely played it until now: the launch games were crap.
Well, for Legend of Zelda fans, the launch games were great.
Get him into the Super Smash Bros. series (buy him a GCN controller and Melee) and you'll never see him again.

^ Oh great... just what he needs. Another excuse to play video games!
He's asking for a freaking PSP for the holidays. I mean jeez. He already has his DS, his long-nelgected Wii, an xbox (granted it is last generation's) and the Sony PS3. Back in my day, we got Intellivision with those crappy disc controllers and we liked it.

@Ben_j - There is no mario game better than Super Mario 64.
@stash - gears of war is awesome!
@Whirly - Wow! You're sure generous with game systems. But I think that psp is going too far. Everyone I know who has one never plays it anymore. I would do what android said: Get him Super Smash Brothers Melee. He will enjoy it a lot. Then get him Super Smash Bros Brawl when it comes out. He'll be a very happy little boy! :)

The gaming systems are really for all of us (and whoever wants to come over to play), though the Wii was a all-in-the-family pitch-in to make our son's last Christmas believing in Santa go off with a bang - and what a pain in the butt it was hunting a Wii down!! As for the PS3, that was stash's little present to himself which gets a lot of use, the blue ray is a nice touch. Movies never looked and sounded so good at home!
I absolutely do not want to get him a PSP. Our kid, bless his little heart which has fallen prey to advertising - he asking for it, but I don't wanna. I can see it now - the PSP will be played with for a week then it's back to Star Wars or the DS or whatever. The DS has been a great little gaming system which is perfect for a kid his age. It's a bummer about the Wii but hopefully some fresh games will inspire him to play again.
As for me, screw gaming systems. :P I want one of those iphones or something comparable.

have you tried showing him things that you claim to be cooler or indirectly providing "evidence" (using rhetoric of course! ;)) as to why something isn't cool? while I was a kid (okay, let's say "large infant around or past exit of infancy" -- I'm still a kid!) my dad pulled this one on me a lot with video game stuff and it probably saved him a ton.
makes you (the child that is) feel really good about yourself.
